Scarlett Johansson brought dozens of amazing characters to life, and she’s always ready to explore uncharted territories. The Marvel star will take a break from saving the world in her new movie Rub & Tug. This true crime biopic will focus on massage parlor queen Jean Marie Gill, who became one of Pittsburgh’s biggest kingpins in the ‘70s.
Gill, who went by the name Dante “Tex” Gill, was a transgender man who ran several mafia-protected massage parlors, which were fronts for prostitution. As if that wasn’t enough, he was also in charge of an anabolic steroids ring that helped fuel the Pittsburgh Steelers NFL dynasty.
Rub & Tug will be the second collaboration between Johansson and Rupert Sanders. Unfortunately, they don’t have a great track record working together since their first movie Ghost in the Shell bombed with both the critics and the audience. This is their chance to redeem themselves since several big studios expressed interest in this project. New Regency ended up winning the bidding war, so it seems like Rub & Tug is in the safe hands.
