The Big Bang Theory will be going off the air this year, and it’s definitely going with a bang. Sean Astin and Kal Penn are the latest stars to join the final season of this beloved sitcom.

This amazing duo will play play Dr. Campbell (Penn) and Dr. Pemberton (Astin), a pair of physicists who accidentally confirm Sheldon’s and Amy’s super-asymmetry theory.

It’s safe to assume both actors are going to make a one-off appearance, because their schedules are pretty stacked. Sean Astin (Lord of the Rings) is also set to appear in upcoming series No Good Nick that’s coming out later this year. Kal Penn (Harold & Kumar) is returning to his starring role in political drama Designated Survivor.

Season 12 of The Big Bang Theory premiered in September, only a month after it was announced this sitcom is coming to a close. CBS Entertainment president Kelly Kahl described it as “the defining comedy of its generation” and said they’re incredibly grateful to everyone who left a lasting legacy on the television landscape by being a part of it.
