Despite their recent cost-cutting efforts, the CW bosses are still going the extra mile to keep their most beloved shows alive. After months of speculations about its future, Superman and Lois has finally been renewed for its fourth season, but there are several major changes underway.

Brad Schwartz, the CW Network’s president of entertainment announced the renewal of this superhero series, along with All American: Homecoming. He said they’re thrilled to bring these series back since they’re among the network’s strongest performers across our linear and digital platforms with some of the most passionate fanbases in all of television.

The renewal for Season 4 is a huge success for Superman and Lois, but the show will have to go through several major changes to reduce production costs. The episode count has been lowered to 10, the number of series-regular cast members will most likely be reduced, and the series will return to its family drama roots to cut on the special effects budget.

Superman and Lois was originally conceived as one of the Arrowverse shows, but it eventually became its own story, set in a separate universe. It’s currently the only remaining DC superhero show on the CW after the network announced the cancelation of the rookie series Gotham Knights.
