Seinfeld Revival is “Possible” According to Jerry Seinfeld

Lately, we are seeing ’90s sitcoms being rebooted or getting a revival to a degree that is becoming a bit scary. Some of the more popular shows, which found their way to cult status, have been dodging this practice, but it just might be a matter of time for them as well. Through the years Jerry Seinfeld was vocal about not wanting to revive his sitcom Seinfeld, while it now looks like he is willing to consider it.

During his recent appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, Jerry Seinfeld discussed the trend of sitcom revivals with show’s host Ellen DeGeneres.

“All these sitcoms are having a resurgence,” – said DeGeneres. ” So Roseanne is doing it. I heard Murphy Brown—is that really true, Murphy Brown is doing it?”

“Murphy Brown? And Candice Bergen is coming back?” – asked Seinfeld. “I think I know where you’re going with this, but why don’t you finish it.”

“Do you think, Jerry, there would be a possibility that Seinfeld would come back?” – DeGeneres moved straight to the matter.

“It’s possible,” – Jerry said before being interrupted by cheers from the audience.

Back in 2016, Jerry Seinfeld revealed that he received an offer to do a live Seinfeld episode, but added that he didn’t consider it at all. We just hope that he has changed his mind and is open to bringing more of his “show about nothing”.

During its original run, from 1989 to 1998, Seinfeld received huge praise from both the critics and audience, being the most watched television program in season six and season nine. It went on to be considered as one of the greatest (if not the greatest) and most influential TV sitcoms of all time. Besides Jerry Seinfeld, the cast included Jason Alexander, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, and Michael Richards with Larry David serving as one of the show’s main writers.
