Selena Gomez always had a huge following on social media, but the number of her Instagram followers just reached new heights. Shortly after regaining the title of the most-followed woman on Instagram, she also became the first woman on this social media platform to reach 400 million followers.

Gomez’s latest Instagram milestone comes a few weeks after she reached 381 million followers, to pass Kylie Jenner as the most-followed woman on Instagram. She’s now the only woman with 400 million or more Instagram followers, but Cristiano Ronaldo still remains the most-followed person in general with 562 million followers.

Despite her huge following, Gomez has always been pretty open about her complicated relationship with social media. She took her latest break from social media last month, in the face of the drama involving Hailey Bieber, the wife of her ex-boyfriend Justin Bieber.

“I’m gonna be taking a second from social media, because this is a little silly. And I’m 30, I’m too old for this, so…but I love you guys so much! And I will see you guys sooner than later, I just… I’m just gonna just take a break from everything,” she said at the time.

Her latest social media break was pretty brief, and she’s now regularly posting on both Instagram and TikTok. Her latest Instagram post was a makeup-free selfie, in which she referenced Miley Cyrus’ song “Violet Chemistry”.
