Selena Gomez’s new album Rare is her most emotional and personal album to date – and the same can be said about the song it was named after. Her fans were head over heels with this song ever since she shared it for the first time, and its live rendition is even better.

Gomez decided to surprise her loyal Selenators by sharing a stripped-down version of this song that she recorded at the Village Studio. This was the first time she performed this track live in public, and it really got us excited for her future performances.

“Rare” came out on January 10th, the same day its parent album hit the shelves. She wanted it to be the title of her new album from the get-go since it perfectly encapsulated everything she was trying to say with this record.

“I felt like it was a great complement to where I left off with my other singles, because it is honest and raw, and basically saying, “I know I don’t have it all, I’m not perfect, but I know that I deserve great, and I deserve love, and I deserve all of it, self-love,’” Gomez told Billboard.
