Trevor Daniel is in charge of one of the biggest sleeper hits of the summer, “Past Life”, and Selena Gomez was so impressed by this song that she agreed to join him for a remix, which was released on June 26. The duo finally released the highly-anticipated music video for the soaring song.

The “Past Life” video opens with Daniel and Gomez singing together on Instagram Live. Things get more surreal from there, and we get to explore a number of picturesque landscapes after the camera zooms in on Gomez’s face.

Gomez and Daniel discussed the collaboration in a short Q&A session on Instagram, and Gomez explained why she was drawn to this track in the first place

“When I heard the song the first time, I loved the fact that it was kind of like a story about all the things that we tend to hold onto and the patterns that we have. And I’m very, very vocal about my personal experiences making decisions that maybe aren’t necessarily healthy for me,” the former Disney star said.
