Selena Gomez’s new album Rare was a long time coming, and she promoted its release by dropping a mesmerizing music video for the track of the same name.

It was important for Gomez to reconnect with nature in this video, so she can be seen wandering around a butterfly-filled forest in a series of classy dresses worthy of a Disney princess.

The singer’s latest visual was directed by the Brooklyn-based duo BRTHR, and she used it to tell her fans that being vulnerable and self-reflective can lead to incredible freedom.

“The video is very ethereal and captures the journey through three different states of mind. The moths symbolize determination and attraction. The forest represents the path to freedom and the bathroom self-reflection,” Selena Gomez told MTV.

The singer also revealed she wrote this song early on into the recording process, but always knew it’s going to be the title of her new album. Rare hit the shelves on January 10th, and it was preceded by singles “Look at Her Now” and “Lose You to Love Me”.
