“Selena: The Series” Trailer Shows Singer’s Rise to Fame

Netflix has released the first trailer for the upcoming biographical drama Selena: The Series about the late Tejano singer Selena Quintanilla.

Christian Serratos (The Walking Dead) stars as Selena and Madison Taylor Baez will play a young Selena. The series features the Mexican American singer’s childhood and rise to fame while chronicling her personal struggles to get there.

In the trailer we see a young Selena singing to herself “I’m Leaving It (All) Up To You,” the golden oldie that Donny and Marie Osmond resurrected for a hit single in 1974. Then it moves on to Selena’s teenage years, the early part of her career, her life on the road, backstage drama, and her singing to live audiences.

The rest of the cast includes Seidy Lopez as Selena’s mother, Marcella Samora; Ricardo Chavira as her father, Abraham Quintanilla; Gabriel Chavarria as her brother, A.B. Quintanilla; and Noemi Gonzalez as her sister, Suzette Quintanilla.

The first part of the two-part series will be released on Netflix on December 4.
