Talk show host and comedian Seth Meyers was announced as the host of the 2018 Golden Globes. He will take over from Jimmy Fallon, who was a host in 2017.

“The Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA) is excited to have Seth Meyers host the 75th Annual Golden Globe Awards,” – HFPA President Meher Tatna said in a statement. “With his natural comedic wit and innate ability to charm audiences, Seth will help us carry on the celebratory tradition of recognizing the best in television and film at the Party of the Year.”

This won’t be the first time that Meyers hosts an award ceremony. In 2012 he hosted 66th Primetime Emmy Awards, and according to the reactions afterward, he was more than good in this role.

Seth Meyers first gained prominence in 2001 when he joined the cast of Saturday Night Live. He became head writer for the show in 2006 while also assuming the role of Weekend Update co-anchor alongside Amy Pohler. After Pohler left SNL, Meyers became a solo anchor in 2008. His last SNL appearance was in February 2014, after which he went on to host the Late Night talk show instead of Jimmy Fallon. Meyers also made appearances as an actor in various movies and TV shows.

The 2018 Golden Globes ceremony is scheduled to take place on January 7, 2018, at The Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills, California. The full list of nominees will be revealed on December 11, 2017.
