Netflix’s upcoming fantasy series Shadow and Bone has received its first teaser trailer.
“The Shadow Fold. A scar on the map that tore our country in two. To destroy it, we need a miracle,” a voice in the trailer says.
The series is based on Leigh Bardugo’s worldwide bestselling Grishaverse novels. In the trailer, we meet Jessie Mei Li’s Alina Starkov as she reveals her newfound power, and Ben Barnes’ General Kirigan, who meets Alina for the first time.
“You and I are going to change the world,” Kirigan tells Alina.
The story is set in a war-torn world where soldier and orphan Alina Starkov has just unleashed a power that could help set her country free. Alina is taken from everything she knows to train as a part of an elite army of magical soldiers known as Grisha when the monstrous threat of the Shadow Fold is looming. But she soon sees that nothing is as it seems and she finds her allies and enemies can be the same.
The series is produced by Stranger Things outfit 21 Laps Entertainment. Also starring in Shadow and Bone are Archie Renaux, Freddy Carter, Amita Suman, and Kit Young.
