Summer is slowly coming to an end, but that didn’t stop Shawn Mendes from giving us another song that encapsulates the spirit of this season. The Canadian singer joined forces with Tainy for their first collaboration “Summer of Love”.

The Matty Peacock-directed video for this song perfectly captures the carefree spirit of the summer, and it shows Mendes driving the car down the coast, chilling at a secluded beach, riding on a boat with his friends, and having the time of his life.

“Summer of Love” was filmed in Majorca, Spain, and Mendes expressed his hope that this song makes his fans “feel as happy and carefree as it makes [him] feel.” In an interview with SiriusXM’s Ron Ross, the Grammy-nominated singer revealed that the lyrics were inspired by the time he spent with his girlfriend Camila Cabello in Miami.

“Time was kind of stopped and it really just felt like we were kids again, you know? And we were able to just find ourselves and it was a beautiful kind of time. And that’s what I wrote the song about,” explained Mendes.

Mendes’s latest album Wonder came out last year, but “Summer of Love” wasn’t one of the songs featured on this record, and it hints that he’s working on new material.
