Yes, it was shocking for us too, but it looks like Canadian pop star Shawn Mendes is single. Mendes, who just dropped his third studio album, decided to set the record straight and address the rumors that he and model Hailey Baldwin are dating following their appearance at the Met Gala together.
In his recent interview with E! News, the 19-year-old “Treat You Better” singer said that he is currently single and that he and Hailey are just good friends.
“I am single,” Mendes said. “The Met Ball was such an incredible experience for me. It was just overwhelming in the most incredible way. I was so lucky for my first time going there to be able to go with someone like Hailey because she’s such a vet and I really admire people like her because of how outgoing she is in such an overwhelming experience.”
“She was forcing me to get up and talk to people I would have been terrified to speak to or say high to so I got to meet so many cool people because of her. She’s super special, so sweet,” he added.
Hailey Baldwin also addressed the rumors about dating Shawn Mendes recently, basically repeating what the young singer said.
“We hang out and he’s super-lovely and a very, very nice young gentleman,” Baldwin explained. “But I am single. The dating pool is small. It’s rare to find somebody that has the same ideas and morals as me.”
Shawn Mendes released his Shawn Mendes album on May 25 and received positive reviews with critics praising Mendes’ growth as a songwriter and the overall direction of the album.
