Shawn Mendes was supposed to spend the whole summer touring North America with his latest studio album Wonder, but there has been a change of plans. The Canadian hitmaker announced he’s postponing part of the tour because he wants to put his mental health first.

Mendes released an official statement postponing the tour days, explaining that he’s been touring since 15 and always struggled to be on the road away from his friends and family.

“After a few years off the road, I felt like I was ready to dive back in, but that decision was premature and unfortunately the toll of the road and the pressure has caught up to me and I’ve hit a breaking point,” wrote Mendes on social media.

The 23-year-old singer added that he decided to take some time to heal and take care of his mental health after speaking with his team and health professionals. This announcement comes shortly after Wonder: The World Tour kicked off in Portland, Oregon on June 27, and he decided to postpone the next three weeks of shows until further notice.

Wonder: The World Tour is in support of the singer’s 2020 album Wonder, which produced hit singles “Wonder” and “Monster” featuring Justin Bieber.
