Shia LeBeouf is getting super meta.

The 31-year-old has been somewhat removed from the cinema circuit lately as he has dealt with personal problems and legal issues within the last year.

But the Transformers star is making a comeback with a subject he knows really well – Himself.

It has been revealed that Shia will star in an autobiographical film about his relationship with his father during the time that he shot the series Even Stevens in the early 2000s.

Shia will take on the role of his alcoholic father with whom he had a contentious relationship, while Lucas Hedges (Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri and Lady Bird) will play child actor, Otis Lort, which is based upon Shia himself.

In addition to starring, Shia co-wrote the script for Honey Boy (under the pseudonym “Otis Lort”) which is set to be directed by his former collaborator, Alma Har’el.

At least we can say that he’s never been one to Shia away from tough subject matter…
