Shōgun came into this year’s Emmy Awards with 25 nominations, and it lived up to the hype. It set a major record with a total of 18 wins in a single year, and it was among the biggest winners at the Primetime Emmy Awards along with Baby Reindeer, The Bear, and Hacks.

Shōgun already had 14 Emmys under its belt even before Sunday night rolled around, after winning big at the  Creative Arts Emmy Award a week before. It added four more trophies to its impressive collection at the main event, including the coveted outstanding drama award, for a total of 18 wins – the most by any show in a single year in the Emmys’ history.

The race in the comedy categories has been pretty heated, with The Bear and Hacks going head to head. The Bear eventually walked away with four major awards and a total of 11, setting a new record for most wins by a comedy show in a single year. The outstanding comedy series award wasn’t one of them since it went to Hacks.

Netflix’s limited series Baby Reindeer was a clear leader among the limited and anthology series with four major awards. In addition to collecting the trophy for the outstanding limited or anthology series, its stars Richard Gadd and Jessica Gunning also won awards for their respective performances.

The 2024 Primetime Emmy Awards returned to the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles on September 15, with Eugene Levy and Dan Levy serving as this year’s hosts.
