Sia’s Directorial Debut “Music” Gets New Trailer, Sets Release Date

Kate Hudson and Maddie Ziegler in "Music"

Sia’s feature film directorial debut Music is finally getting a release date.

Kate Hudson, Maddie Ziegler, and Leslie Odom Jr. star in the musical drama that’s set to play in select Imax theaters for one-night-only on February 10 before being released on premium video-on-demand platforms on February 12.

Music is co-written by Sia and Dallas Clayton and it follows Zu (Hudson), who is estranged from her family, but after her grandmother dies she becomes the sole guardian of her half-sister (Ziegler), a teenager who is on the autism spectrum and is nonverbal. With the help of her neighbor (Odom), they navigate the obstacles in life.

“I’m going to help her just like she helps me,” says Hudson’s character in the trailer. “I’m actually learning how to love because I love her.”

Sia wrote 10 new songs for the film, which also has colorful fantasy musical sequences that show the inner lives of the characters.

Also starring in the film are Ben Schwartz, Tig Notaro, and Kathy Najimy.

Sia has previously worked with Dance Moms‘ Ziegler on many music videos including “Chandelier” and “Elastic Heart”.
