Jim Carrey in "Sonic the Hedgehog"

Perfection takes time, as fans of Sonic the Hedgehog are about to find out.

28 years after his first appearance, the super-speedy blue guy is coming to the big screen in his own feature film.

Ben Schwartz from Parks and Recreation is voicing the character who must face off against his nemesis, Doctor Robotnik, voiced by Jim Carrey.

While the live-action film, which features Sonic created from CGI, was due to be released later this year, it has now been delayed.

When the trailer for Sonic the Hedgehog was released at the end of April, fans were less than enthusiastic about the creature’s appearance…

However, the disapproval did not go unheeded, with director Jeff Fowler responding to the audience, promising them that Sonic would be redesigned.

As a result, the movie’s release date has now been delayed by three months — moving from November 8th, 2019 to February 14th, 2020.

“Taking a little more time to make Sonic just right,” Fowler tweeted along with the hashtag “No VFX artists were harmed in the making of this movie.”

Let’s hope it’s worth the wait!
