The year was 1996.

The Spice Girls were still together, Michael Jordan was the best basketball player in the world, and R. Kelly believed he could fly.

And the last two items on that list came together in the hit movie, Space Jam.

The film merged animation and live action to bring us a story about Michael being enlisted by Bugs Bunny and other members of the Looney Tunes to help them win an intergalactic basketball game against a team of mean aliens.

Fast forward 22 years where it has now been announced that a sequel to Space Jam is on the cards!

Michael Jordan is no longer the MVP — replaced, instead, by LeBron James who will also produce.

The film will also be produced by Black Panther filmmaker, Ryan Coogler, while Terence Nance of Random Acts of Flyness is set to direct.

Let’s hope they’ve been practising their shooting skills!
