Special Screening of “The Irishman” Coming to AFI Fest

Robert De Niro and Al Pacino in "The Irishman"

The Irishman screened at several major film festivals before making its way to theaters and Netflix, and AFI Fest is the next one in line. In addition to screening the movie, the festival organizers prepared a special tribute to its director Martin Scorsese.

The Irishman will be shown at AFI Fest on November 15th, and the screening will be followed by a conversation with Scorsese, who was described as “an American master” by AFI president and CEO Bob Gazzale.

“It is a profound honor for AFI to bring movie lovers together for one night to stand and celebrate this visionary storyteller whose passion for cinema echoes from film preservation to the advancement of the art form,” said Gazzale in a statement.

The Irishman premiered at the New York Film Festival earlier this fall, and its limited theatrical release is set for November 27th, the same day it’ll start streaming on Netflix.

Scorsese’s latest project stars Robert De Niro, Al Pacino, and Joe Pesci, and tells a story of hitman Frank Sheeran, who claims he worked with some of the most notorious mob bosses of the 20th century.
