According to the last reports from Great Britain, Spice Girls, the best-selling female group of all time, are set for a reunion in 2018. The Sun magazine says that Victoria Beckham, Emma Bunton, Geri Halliwell, Melanie Brown (Mel B) and Melanie Chisholm (Mel C) will join forces for a compilation album and a TV special. The reports didn’t mention new music or live performances, but that isn’t out of the questions now as it was a while ago.

“The five of them have been locked in secret talks since the summer, and finally they are all on-board for a 2018 reunion” said a source close to the group while talking to The Sun. “As it stands, they will be working together on a series of projects, which will include an album and a TV special celebrating the Spice Girls. And getting Victoria to agree has been a coup for everyone involved, given she has always been the person holding back on a reunion.”

After a lengthy hiatus that started in 2000, so the members of the group could focus on their solo career, Spice Girls reunited in 2007 for a worldwide concert tour. The tour was a huge success, with all the dates being sold out in advance. After the tour ended in 2008, Spice Girls went on a break again, reuniting briefly in 2012 for a performance in London at the 2012 Summer Olympics closing ceremony.

Since then, the rumors about the potential reunion didn’t stop, although Victoria and Mel C openly said they are against that idea. Geri, Emma and Mel B tried to reunite the Spice Girls as a trio and received a blessing from both Mel B and Victoria. Although the trio, going under name GEM, teased new music and upcoming shows, those plans failed to materialize.
