A Halloween Spotify advert has been banned from TV for being too scary.

The advert is a satirical horror clip of a group of friends who are obsessed with the song “Havana” by Camila Cabello. Whenever they play the song, however, a horribly creepy antique doll comes to life.

Unfortunately, the group loves the song so much that they can’t help but play it, even though something awful happens every time they do. The ad ends with the tagline ‘Killer songs you can’t resist.’ If you’re feeling brave, you can watch the ad here:

The ad ran on Youtube earlier in June but the Advertising Standards Authority has since banned the advert after it caused distressed to a child. The child was not expecting the scary ad to appear on the child-friendly channel he was engaging with.

“The fact that the ad was set inside a home, including a bedtime setting, and featured a doll, meant it was particularly likely to cause distress to children who saw it,” said the ASA in a statement.

Spotify responded: “We acknowledge the ruling from the ASA and regret any distress the ad may have caused the complainant.”
