“Squid Game” Season 2 is Returning to Netflix in 2024

The second season of Squid Game has been years in the making, but we won’t have to wait for it much longer. Netflix recently shared some exciting news about the hit South Korean drama and announced it would officially return to this streaming platform in 2024.

The highly-anticipated return of Squid Game was announced in Netflix’s recent letter to investors. The streaming giant promised “a big, bold slate” of new titles for 2024, including new seasons of Squid Game, The Diplomat, Empress, and Bridgerton.

Squid Game created quite a commotion when it first premiered in 2021, and it remains Netflix’s most-watched series to this date, after attracting 1.65 billion viewing hours and racing 111 million accounts in the first 28 days on Netflix. It captivated viewers with the tale of a group of people trying to overcome financial hardships by earning a huge cash prize by playing a series of deadly children’s games.

The second season will reunite us with several familiar faces from the show’s first chapter, including Lee Jung-jae, Lee Byung-Hun, Wi Ha-jun, and Gong Yoo set to reprise their role. Many newcomers will join them when Squid Game returns, including Yim Si-wan, Kang Ha-Neul, Park Sung-hoon, Yang Dong-geun, and Yim Si-wan.
