Several amazing actors brought Captain Spock to life in the last few decades. Ethan Peck is the next one in line! The young actor just joined Star Trek: Discovery series as the beloved USS Enterprise officer.

Executive producer Alex Kurtzman, who co-created this hit sci-fi show with Bryan Fuller, admitted finding an actor capable of embodying this icon wasn’t an easy task. Leonard Nimoy and Zachary Quinto managed to bring “incomparable humanity to a character forever torn between logic and emotion”. Kurtzman was hoping they’ll find someone new, who’s talented enough to do the same thing.

“We searched for months for an actor who would, like them, bring his own interpretation to the role. An actor who would, like them, effortlessly embody Spock’s greatest qualities, beyond obvious logic: empathy, intuition, compassion, confusion, and yearning. Ethan Peck walked into the room inhabiting all of these qualities.” said Kurtzman.

Ethan Peck is the grandson of the Hollywood legend Gregory Peck. Before being cast as Spock, he played one of the lead roles in the TV remake of 10 Things I Hate About You. He also appeared in sci-fi thriller In Time, alongside Justin Timberlake and Amanda Seyfried. Unfortunately, we’ll have to wait for at least a year to see him as Spock, since the second season of Star Trek: Discovery won’t premiere until 2019.
