If you thought Westeros was far away, just you wait.

The guys responsible for bringing us 8 seasons of Game of Thrones are now moving on to another of our favorite franchises. One in a galaxy far, far away.

Disney has confirmed that David Benioff and D.B. Weiss will be working on the new Star Wars film which is coming out in 2022.

“We’re hard at work already, but we felt three years was the proper amount of time to not only take a breather and reset but to gear up for the next film’s release,” said Disney CEO Bob Iger. “We did a deal with David Benioff and Dan Weiss, who are famous for Game of Thrones and the next movie that we release will be theirs, and we’re not saying anything more about that.”

The Star Wars film set for release later this year — Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker — will wrap up the current trilogy, with the next scheduled for 2022, 2024, and 2026.

David and Dan’s instalment is due on 16 December, 2022.
