The Writers’ Strike may be over, but the future of many scripted dramas is still hanging by a thread. Several Starz shows won’t return for another season after a series of cancelations, including Heels, Run the World, Blindspotting, and The Venery of Samantha Bird.

Heels was set in the world of small-town wrestling and it centered on two brothers (Stephen Amell and Alexander Ludwig), who are warring over their late father’s legacy after he entrusted them with his wrestling promotion company in Georgia.

Run the World centered on a group of smart, funny, and vibrant thirty-something Black women trying to thrive together in Harlem. The series starred Amber Stevens West, Andrea Bordeaux, Bresha Webb, and Corbin Reid, and it was canceled after two seasons, just like Heels.

Blindspotting draws inspiration from the 2018 films of the same name and it was co-created by its stars Rafael Casal and Daveed Diggs. The series shifted focus on Ashley (Jasmine Cephas Jones), the partner of Casal’s character Miles, who must navigate life as a single mother after he suddenly ends up in prison.

Unlike the previous three shows, The Venery of Samantha Bird never saw the light of day. The drama series led by Katherine Langford was officially binned, with two episodes left to film after the production was paused back in May.
