Starz has given us one of its most popular and beloved shows with the fantasy period drama Outlander, and they’re not letting go of it anytime soon. The hit adaptation of Diana Gabaldon’s book series has been renewed for a seventh season ahead of the Season 6 premiere.

Christina Davis, president of original programming for Starz, said they’re committed to investing in unapologetic, bold premium storytelling that amplifies diverse voices and shines a spotlight on women—and that perfectly describes this series.

“The hit series Outlander embodies everything about our Take the Lead initiative including a powerful female lead character and an amazing team of storytellers,” stated Davis.

Outlander centers on a Scottish World War II military nurse, who is mysteriously swept back in time and taken back to 1743. Caitriona Balfe and Sam Heughan play lead roles in this series, while the supporting cast of the upcoming season also includes Richard Rankin, Sophie Skelton, and John Bell.

Since its premiere in 2014, Outlander was met with critical acclaim and received nominations for numerous major awards, including the Emmys and Golden Globes. The production on Season 6 kicked off earlier this year, but it still doesn’t have an official release date.
