12 years after the Twilight franchise wrapped up, Stephenie Meyer has revealed what she would change about the first book in the series.

This summer, Meyer released the brand new novel, Midnight Sun. The novel recalls the events of Twilight from Edward Cullen’s point of view, rather than from Bella’s.

Speaking to Bustle, Meyer has revealed that writing Midnight Sun forced her to reflect on Twilight and see things in a new way. This led her to wish she had written some sections of the original novel differently.

“When I was writing Twilight, things felt right,” she said. “But then I realized [Edward] absolutely would have told [Bella] he loved her sooner. There’s no way he wouldn’t have.

“There were certain points where I’m like, ‘Yes, he would have said it right here.’ And I can’t change that. And that’s very frustrating.

“He definitely would have after he saved her in Port Angeles,” she continued. “He addresses that mentally where he is kind of surprised, as he thinks over their conversation when he’s talking to her again, that he didn’t say it.”

Midnight Sun is available to purchase now on Amazon and the films in Twilight franchise are available to watch on Netflix.
