Steve Carell has rejected all TV offers that came his way ever since The Office wrapped up – until now! The Oscar nominee will make his small screen comeback in a morning show drama series, developed by Apple.

Carell isn’t the only A-lister who was intriguing by this project. He’ll star alongside Reese Witherspoon and Jennifer Aniston, who were previously cast as the female leads. This untitled project will take a look at the lives of the people who help America wake up in the morning and the unique challenges they face.

The Office star will play Mitch Kessler, a morning show anchor who is struggling to maintain relevance in a changing media landscape. Carell already tackled a couple of similar roles in the past. He played TV personalities in Bruce Almighty and two movies from the Anchorman series.

Since leaving The Office in 2011, Carell has been focused on building an impressive big screen resume. He received his first Academy Award nomination for the role of demented millionaire John du Pont in Foxcatcher. We wouldn’t be surprised if he replicated that success this year since he ’s starring in three Oscar hopefuls – Beautiful Boy, Welcome to Marwen and Vice.
