Thunderbolts is shaping up to be one of Marvel’s most star-studded films in recent memory, but one major player just left the cast. Steven Yeun will no longer be a part of the film’s ensemble cast after deciding to drop out due to scheduling conflicts.

Yeun joined the cast of Thunderbolts last year, but the film’s future became uncertain in the face of the dual strikes in Hollywood. Marvel repeatedly pushed production, and Yeun was forced to leave the film due to scheduling issues after production was pushed to an unspecified date this year.

2023 has been a pretty busy year for the Oscar-nominated actor, who’s currently in the running for the Primetime Emmy and Golden Globe Award for his performance in Netflix’s limited series Beef. He’s set to appear in post-apocalyptic romance film Love Me alongside Kristen Stewart and Bong Joon-ho’s sci-fi film Mickey 17 later this year.

Thunderbolts will hit the theaters on July 25, 2025, and it will feature many familiar faces despite Yeun’s departure. Its cast will star Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes/Winter Soldier, Wyatt Russell as John Walker, David Harbour as Red Guardian, Florence Pugh as Yelena Belova, Julia Louis-Dreyfus as Valentina Allegra de Fontaine, and Harrison Ford as Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross.
