“Stranger Things” Creator Drops Hint About Jim Hopper’s Fate

Winona Ryder and David Harbour in "Stranger Things"

Spoiler Alert!

The third season of Stranger Things is already streaming for a few weeks on Netflix and one of the most discussed subjects between viewers after watching it is the fate of one of the main characters – Jim Hopper who is seen being killed in the last episode. Fans have claimed that the last scene who sees an American being held in a Russian prison is a sign that Hopper is not really dead.

This theory is now getting a lot stronger as one of the show creators and showrunners Matt Duffer gave another clue about Hop’s fate. While discussing the show during an interview for Entertainment Weekly, Duffer spoke about the homages the show makes to 80’s culture in general and Star Wars in particular.

“We always talk about Empire Strikes Back – we always wanted to give him a darker ending, we always wanted to give him a Han Solo sacrifice moment”, said Dummer. And as all Star Wars fans know, Han Solo turned out alive and well to continue the adventures in the next film, Return of the Jedi.

Fans of Stranger Things will have to wait for season 4 to know for sure, but it seems we may yet get to see the cranky sheriff.
