Jamie Campbell Bower’s star has been on the rise since he starred in Stranger Things and he just landed a role in his next big project. The British actor will take the lead role in Chuck Russell’s remake of the 80s horror franchise Witchboard.

The new version of the 80s classic will center on a young woman Emily and her fiancé Christian, who discovers an ancient pendulum board after refurbishing an old carriage house in New Orleans into an organic café.

They decide to ask occult expert Alexander Babtiste for help, but it turns out he has secrets of his own and knows more than he lets on about the fateful bloodlines that bind them all to the Witchboard.

In addition to directing, Russell also co-wrote the script alongside Greg McKay, and he’s excited to join forces with Campbell Bower.

“There is a tradition in cinema of great English actors that have the charisma we associate with stardom as well as the acting chops to truly be a chameleon, playing a variety of character types. Jamie Campbell Bower is that kind of actor and his time is now,” said Russel in a statement.

Campbell Bower most recently starred played the villain Vecna in Stranger Things, and he’s expected to return for the show’s final season. His filmography also includes roles in Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street, The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones, and hit franchises Harry Potter and Twilight.
