HBO’s hit drama Succession is ending its run this spring, and its star Matthew Macfadyen already landed a role in his next big project. The Emmy-winning actor will play a key role in Deadpool 3 alongside Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman.

The identity of Macfadyen’s character remains a mystery, but he’ll be in pretty good company on the set of this film. In addition to Reynolds and Jackman, Deadpool 3 will also star Leslie Uggams as Blind Al and The Crown star Emma Corin as the film’s main villain.

Macfadyen, whose film credits include period dramas Pride & Prejudice and Anna Karenina, is currently starring as Tom Wambsgans on Succession. The show’s fourth and final season premiered on March 26 to rave reviews, and Macfadyen is eyeing another possible Emmy nomination following his supporting actor win last year.

Deadpool 3 will reunite Ryan Reynolds with Shawn Levy, who previously directed him in Free Guy and The Adam Project. He’s taking over from David Leitch, while Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick are coming back to write the script.

This will be the first Deadpool film developed by Marvel, and it’s set to kick off the MCU’s Phase Six when it premieres on November 8, 2024.
