Superman & Lois was one of the rare The CW shows to survive the network’s recent cancelation streak, but it was just a matter of time before it came to an end. That moment is finally here after The CW decided to ax this superhero series after its upcoming fourth season.

Brad Schwartz, president of entertainment at The CW Network, announced the show’s cancelation and promised an absolutely epic 10-episode must-watch farewell to one of the most legendary CW families ever.

“Over the last three seasons, Superman & Lois redefined both the superhero genre and family drama as Tyler, Elizabeth and the entire cast effortlessly portrayed these classic characters with new layers of depth and complexity that had never before been explored in the Superman universe,” said Schwartz in a statement.

Superman & Lois was renewed back in June after Warner Bros. Television agreed to deliver it with a smaller budget that fits into The CW’s new lower-cost original programming model. Its cancelation doesn’t come as a huge shocker in the face of the strikes in Hollywood, especially after it was announced its writers’ room underwent downsizing.

Superman & Lois was originally developed as the spin-off of the hit Arrowverse show Supergirl, with Tyler Hoechlin and Elizabeth Tulloch reprising their roles from the original series.
