All those previously loved boys are scheduled to return, but not everyone is joining the reunion…

Following the mass hit that was To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before, it was hardly surprising that Netflix decided to bring us a sequel. But even before the good news was confirmed, the film’s director, Susan Johnson, was totally on board for round two.

It appears now, though, that the ship that is To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before 2 will be sailing without its original captain. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Johnson has stepped down from the role due to other commitments.

“Directing To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before has been one of the great experiences of my life, and I am grateful to the fans for their passionate support of the film,” she said in a statement. “Due to the timing of my other projects I won’t be directing the sequel, but as an executive producer, I am looking forward to continuing to share Lara Jean’s story and being part of this franchise.”

But don’t worry — Lana Condor, Noah Centineo, Anna Cathcart, Janel Parrish, and John Corbett will be in good hands as director of photography on the first film, Michael Fimognari, will replace Johnson who will still remain involved as executive producer.
