SZA is making waves with her new album S.O.S. which has been sitting atop the Billboard 200 chart for two weeks now. Despite not being released as a single, “Kill Bill” emerged as one of its biggest hits, and the singer decided to award fans for their loyalty by dropping a music video for this song.

SZA shared a short teaser for Christian Breslauer-directed visual on social media, and said that it’s “coming soon”. Like the song itself, the video is clearly inspired by Quentin Tarantino’s Kill Bill films. It shows SZA putting on a red and black jumpsuit reminiscent of the one that the Bride wore in the original film, despite coming in a different color.

SZA admitted she was very surprised by the success of S.O.S. and she didn’t expect people will love “Kill Bill” so much. Like many songs on this record, it explores themes of revenge and heartbreak, with both video and the lyrics drawing inspiration from the Tarantino classic.

“I just watched it again for inspiration for the music video that we’re gonna shoot for “Kill Bill… It’s partially inspired by the movie. But that’s all I can say,” the singer told Entertainment Weekly.

“Kill Bill” is currently SZA’s highest-charting song as a lead artist after debuting at no. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100, in addition to topping the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart.
