Amy Adams made a pretty successful transition to TV with Sharp Objects, and there’s more where that came from! The six-time Oscar nominee will play the lead role in Graham Moore’s upcoming legal drama The Holdout, which she’ll also executive produce.

This limited series has been compared to The Night Of due to its murder investigation format that focuses on a dual-timeline mystery. Adams will portray a woman who finds herself taking on multiple roles in this murder mystery, as juror, attorney, investigator, and suspect.

Graham Moore (The Imitation Game) wrote the script for The Holdout, drawing inspiration from his own novel. Adams is executive producing the series through Bond Group Entertainment alongside Stacy O’Neil and Kate Clifford, and they’ll be joined by Drew Comins of Creative Engine Entertainment.

The past few years have been pretty slow for Adamas, and many of her projects after Vice in 2018 struggled to find critical acclaim. She went on to star in the psychological thriller The Woman in the Window and musicals Dear Evan Hansen and Disenchanted, and is currently attached to Marielle Heller’s horror comedy Nightb—h.

On the TV side, Adams played her first lead role in HBO’s adaptation of Gillian Flynn’s novel Sharp Objects in 2018 and received an Emmy nomination for her performance.

Jonathan Dayton and Valerie Faris filmed several amazing projects by each other’s side, and they’re gearing up for another collaboration. The duo’s next film The Invite already cast its lead, with Amy Adams, Paul Rudd, and Tessa Thompson closing the deals to star in this promising comedy.

The Invite is based on Cesc Gay’s Goya-winning 2020 Spanish film Sentimental, and it centers on Joe and Angela, who find themselves in a rut after 15 years of marriage. Their life turns upside down after they invite their boisterous neighbors Kayla and Shane over for cocktails and learn they’ve been hosting weekly parties that could spice up their marriage.

Jonathan Dayton and Valerie Faris have filmed several acclaimed comedies by each other’s side, including Little Miss Sunshine, Ruby Sparks, and Battle of the Se-es. They’ve also collaborated with Rudd on the Netflix series Living with Yourself and recently directed episodes of Hulu’s Fleishman Is In Trouble.

Emmy nominee Rashida Jones and Academy Award winner Will McCormack wrote the script for The Invite, after previously working together on the indie rom-com Celeste & Jesse Forever. Permut Presentations and FilmNation Entertainment are developing the project together, and they’re planning to launch international sales at Cannes this month.

Adam McKay is no stranger to rounding out a star-studded cast for his project, and his next film will be no exception. Robert Pattinson and Amy Adams are two of the Hollywood A-listers eying roles in McKay’s next film Average Height, Average Build.

Average Height, Average Build will center on a serial killer (Pattinson), who hires a star lobbyist (Adams) to help him get away with murder by changing the laws around them. Given McKay’s filmography so far, which includes such films as Don’t Look Up and The Big Short, we’re expecting this film to give us a satirical look at the current state of the world.

Average Height, Average Build also stars Robert Downey Jr. as a retired cop who won’t give up on the murders. He’ll be joined by the Oscar winner Forest Whitaker and Till‘s Danielle Deadwyler, while the rest of the cast will be announced before production kicks off later this year.

Adams previously starred in McKay’s Oscar-nominated political satire Vice alongside Christian Bale and received another supporting actress nod for her performance. Pattinson, who most recently starred in The Batman is a newcomer to McKay’s world, and we’ll soon get to see him in Bong Joon Ho’s next film Mickey 17.

After an almost 14-year wait for a sequel, fans of Enchanted are finally about to find out what happened to Princess Giselle.

Amy Adams gave an update on the Disney+ sequel titled Disenchanted while appearing on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.

“We filmed it in Ireland,” Adams shared with Fallon. “Everyone is back. We also have great additions to the cast. We have Maya Rudolph. She plays the ‘baddie,’ so we get to have a lot of fun together.”

“There’s a lot more singing and a lot more dancing which was humbling. The last time I really danced as much as I’m required to dance in this, I was in my 20s and now I’m not in my 20s. It feels different in your 40s. In my heart, I look like I’m in my 20s when I’m dancing, and then I would watch playback and be like, ‘Whoa, that’s not the same,’” she told the host.

Enchanted was released in 2007 and a sequel has been in development for years.

Adam Shankman will be directing and Marsden, Dempsey, Sarandon, and Idina Menzel will be reprising their roles.

Amy Adams has a new series on the way, and it will see her joining forces with an old friend. Kings of America will focus on three women linked with the retail giant Walmart, and it will be executive produced by Adam McKay.

Adams and McKay first worked together back in 2006, when she starred in his sports comedy Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby. The Dick Cheney biopic Vice brought them back together in 2018, and they both scored Oscar nominations for their work on this movie.

Their limited series Kings of America is set to premiere on Netflix, and McKay will be in charge of directing the first episode. Jess Kimball Leslie created the series, with Diana Son set to serve as showrunner.

Kings of America will center on three powerful women, whose lives are intertwined due to their connection to the Walmart Corporation. One of them is a rich heiress, the other is the company’s top executive, while the third is Walmart saleswoman and preacher trying to file a historic class-action suit against the retail giant.

Roma is one of the most critically acclaimed movies of the year, so it doesn’t come as a surprise to hear it topped the list of winners at this year’s Critics’ Choice Awards. Alfonso Cuarón’s black and white masterpiece scooped four shinny trophies by the end of the night.

Roma won in four categories: best picture, director, cinematography and foreign film. We wouldn’t be surprised to see Cuarón picking up these same awards at a couple more awards ceremonies, since he’s a front runner in at least two of these categories.

When it comes to TV, last season of The Americans came out swinging, and ended up winning a total of three awards. Same goes for critically beloved comedy series The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, which went against tough competition to win three trophies.

Just like every other awards ceremony, Critics’ Choice Awards also brought a couple of pleasant surprises – most notably, two ties! Glenn Close and Lady Gaga shared the podium while accepting best actress award, and Amy Adams and Patricia Arquette did the same after scoring a win for best actress in a limited series.

Christian Bale is known for pushing his body to the limits and completely immersing in the characters he’s playing and he did it once again in Vice. The first trailer for the upcoming Dick Cheney biopic just dropped and it seems like Bale’s most demanding project to date.

Vice follows Cheney’s rise to political power and his journey to become the most powerful Vice President in American history. The trailer opens with him sitting across the table from George W. Bush, who invites him to come on board as his running mate during the 2000 election.

The first trailer made it pretty clear that Christian Bale is going to be one of the most serious contenders during this year’s Oscar race. In addition to going through another incredible physical transformation, this versatile performer also perfectly mimics Cheney’s mannerisms and speech patterns.

Sam Rockwell is equally impressive as George W. Bush, and it wouldn’t come as a surprise if he received another Academy Award nomination, only a year after winning one. Vice also stars Amy Adams as Cheney’s wife Lynne and Steve Carell as defense secretary Donald Rumsfeld.

Adam McKay, who previously directed Bale in The Big Short, returns as director and screenwriter of this intriguing biopic. The film is headed to theaters on Christmas Day.

Gary Oldman and Amy Adams both had an amazing year, and they’re showing no signs of stopping. Two acting masters will join their forces in the upcoming psychological thriller The Woman in the Window.

The story centers on a former child psychologist Anna Fox who has a dangerous habit of mixing alcohol and medication. Severe agoraphobia takes a toll on her and she spends months locked inside her house. Anna starts spying on her neighbors through her apartment window and ends up witnessing a horrible crime. She has a hard time convincing the police she’s telling the truth and eventually starts doubting herself.

The film is an adaptation of the best-selling debut novel from author A.J. Finn. Tracy Letts wrote the script for the big screen and Joe Wright will serve as the director. Oldman’s casting doesn’t come as a surprise since the two already worked together in the past. The English actor played the lead in Wright’s World War II drama Darkest Hour and won an Oscar for his portrayal of Winston Churchill.

When it comes to The Woman in the Window, Oldman will play the patriarch of the mysterious family. The movie also stars fellow Oscar winner Julianne Moore and up-and-comer Wyatt Russell. It’s slated for an October 4, 2019 release.
