The post “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” Teaser is Finally Here appeared first on EverydayKoala.
]]>Just months before we return to Wakanda, Marvel has given us a glimpse of what to expect.
A lot has changed in the African country since 2018’s Black Panther, mostly due to circumstances off-screen. Chadwick Boseman was due to reprise his role as the titular superhero in the forthcoming sequel, but he sadly passed away in 2020 from colon cancer. The star of Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom was diagnosed in 2016, but chose to keep his condition private. His death came as a surprise to many of his co-stars.
Boseman’s death was written into the Black Panther story as Marvel felt his legacy as T’Challa should be honored. The teaser for the sequel, Wakanda Forever, pays tribute to the late king.
Set to a haunting rendition of “Alright” by Kendrick Lamar, the two-minute clip features many characters struggling with the loss including T’Challa’s sister Shuri and their mother Ramonda who is now Queen.
“I am the queen of the most powerful nation in the world, and my entire family is gone. Have I not given everything?” she tearfully exclaims.
How they and the rest of Wakanda copes, as well as who will be the next Black Panthe, will be revealed on November 11.

]]>Following the massive success of the Marvel flick, which earned $1.3 billion at the global box office and became the first-ever superhero film nominated for an Academy Award, it was only natural that a sequel would follow. Ryan Coogler again assumed the director’s chair, with many stars expected to reprise their roles.
But with the release of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever just months away, it has been confirmed that it won’t feature Kaluuya.
The 33-year-old actor played W’Kabi—the head of security for the Border Tribe and best friend of King T’Challa. While Kaluuya was asked to return, schedule conflicts caused by his appearance in the upcoming horror film by Jordan Peele, Nope, prevented him from doing so.
The Oscar winner is, of course, not the only notable cast member who will be missing when Wakanda returns to the big screen. Chadwick Boseman, who played the titular character, unexpectedly passed away from colon cancer in 2020, with producers choosing not to re-cast the role of T’Challa out of respect. Instead, the sequel will focus on Princess Shuri, played by Letitia Wright.
Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is scheduled for release on November 11.

]]>Thus, the anticipated sequel will come to light between new franchises like The Eternals and sequels in other series’ like Thor: Love and Thunder and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Feige and Coogler did not say much more about the movie, so we don’t know if its plot will be connected to other planned movies and TV shows such as WandaVision, The Falcon and The Winter Soldier, or Loki. We only know that Coogler is returning to the director’s seat.
So what will happen to the small but rich African country? We’ll have to wait and see. It’s only 3 years away.

]]>Last night’s ceremony brought a series of predictable wins, but it was anyone’s ball game in the main field. Green Book was going against several strong contenders, including Roma and A Star Is Born, but eventually emerged triumphant and scored the biggest win of the night.
In addition to winning best picture, this movie also scooped additional two awards – best original screenplay and best supporting actor (Mahershala Ali). It was also a big night for Freddie Mercury biopic Bohemian Rhapsody, which was the only movie to win four awards at this year’s Oscars.
Black Panther and Roma were right behind, with three each. Alfonso Cuarón’s deeply personal black and white drama was one of the biggest winners of the night, despite the fact it didn’t win best picture. It was honored in three major categories – best director, best cinematography and best foreign film.
This year’s Oscars took place at Hollywood’s Dolby Theatre . It was the first ceremony in three decades to be conducted without a host, but presenters Tina Fey, Amy Poehler and Maya Rudolph managed to bring the laughs with their opening salvo.

]]>The post Captain Marvel Projects $100 Million Opening Weekend appeared first on EverydayKoala.
]]>The $100 million estimate is a remarkable figure for a film whose main actress, Larson, isn’t a major character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Her only mention in the MCU came during Infinity War where she was mentioned as a ’90s era pilot called Carol Danvers.
Marvel’s films have earned great success over the years. Last year, Black Panther earned over $1 billion dollars worldwide. Infinity War doubled that amount while Ant-Man and the Wasp earned $500 million at the box office.
To reach the heights of Infinity War, Captain Marvel will have to outdo every other female-led cast superhero film before. Wonder Woman may have opened to $103 million in 2017, but it grossed just over $821 million globally.
Of course, Wonder Woman was a DC film, and DC films have been performing relatively lower than MCU franchises for a while. Captain Marvel’s story that aligns well with the MCU Universe may also help steer the film forward. Larson is also an Oscar award winner and she is joined by a team full of A-list actors and actresses.

Besides Glover, Beyoncé, Lebron James, Chadwick Bosman, and Regina King were nominated in the entertainer of the year category alongside Black Panther’s director Ryan Coogler. The Marvel’s film also got a nomination for best motion picture alongside BlacKkKlansman, If Beale Street Could Talk, The Hate U Give and Crazy Rich Asians.
Notable artists, including Cardi B, who had a great year in the music scene, were conspicuously left out. The award ceremony, which will celebrate its 50th anniversary this year will be held on March 30 at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood and will be aired live on TV One.

TV filed reminded us we should really keep an eye on The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. Amazon’s comedy series scored three wins at this year’s Screen Actor Guild Awards. Tony Shalhoub and Rachel Brosnahan won awards for best performance by male and female actor in a comedy series, while the cast picked up a trophy for best ensemble in the comedy series.

]]>As usual the list of nominees for the 91st annual Academy Awards includes some notable snubs, but this year’s list includes one major surprise.
For the first time ever a comic book superhero film earned a Best Picture nom. Black Panther has scored a whopping seven nominations in all, including the night’s biggest honors.
The Favourite and Roma tied for most nominations of the year, with ten each.
The Alfonso Cuarón helmed drama scored noms for Best Original Screenplay, Best Director, and Best Cinematography, as well as Best Picture and Best Foreign Language Film. While there were no big surprises there, the black-and-white feature also earned its actresses Yalitza Aparicio and Marina De Tavira nods for Best Actress and Best Supporting Actress respectively.
Surprisingly, A Star Is Born director Bradley Cooper has been left off of the nominees list for Best Director. The remake of the classic tale earned eight nominations including Best Picture and acting noms for Cooper and Lady Gaga.
Emily Blunt was also left off of the list of nominees for Best Actress — another major snub. The film earned a total of four nods including Best Original Song for “The Place Where Lost Things Go.”
The 91st annual Academy Awards, will take place, without a host for the very first time in thirty years, on Sunday, February 24 at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles.

Winston Duke, who starred in Black Panther, announced the nominees with actress Logan Browning of Dear White People at the Television Critics Association Winter meeting.
