The post Charlie Cox Returning as Matt Murdock in Disney+ Series “Daredevil: Born Again” appeared first on EverydayKoala.
]]>The announcement of Daredevil’s return was made at this year’s Comic-Con and we’ll have to wait until 2024 for this series to see the light of day. Disney+ gave Daredevil: Born Again an 18-episode order for the first season, which is an uncharacteristically large number of episodes for this streaming service.
If you don’t feel like waiting until 2024 to reunite with Daredevil, don’t despair. Cox previously made a cameo as Matt Murdock in Spider-Man: No Way Home, and he’s also expected to pop up in She-Hulk: Attorney at Law and Echo, and do a voiceover role in Spider-Man: Freshman Year. He’ll be joined by Vincent D’Onofrio as Wilson Fisk aka Kingpin, who previously reprised this role in the Disney+ series Hawkeye.
Charlie Cox initially played Matt Murdock, a blind lawyer who leads a double life as a vigilante, in Netflix’s Daredevil and reprised his role in the crossover miniseries The Defenders. Both shows were canceled and later removed from Netflix after Disney regained its license for them.

]]>The whole cast of the show has been vocal about wanting the show to go on and Vincent D’Onofrio, who portrays the villain, even more so. Now, D’onofrio has responded on Twitter to a fan who called for him to save the show. The actor retweeted the fan’s letter and said: “I’m doing my best kiddo.”
The fan wrote to Marvel: “Good entertainment has heroes you can root for and relate to. Great entertainment also makes you understand the villains’ motivations. This show did all that. This is great entertainment. We need you to #BeTheHero and #SaveDaredevil. Please and thank you.”
In a recent interview to The Daily Mail, the actor said that the whole crew shares these sentiments. “The cancelation kind of left us all in this uninformed, weird place. You ask any actor on this show if they want to do it again if they had the chance and they’re going to say yes, because the experience was so fun and inventive, and the characters are so strong,” he said.

]]>The red body armor worn by Daredevil, i.e. Matt Murdock, played by Charlie cox, was bought by no other than the former showrunner of the series Steven Deknight
On his twitter account, Deknight announced that “this bad boy is coming home to live at the offices of DeKnight Productions, where it belongs!” Deknight has reportedly paid 55,000 dollars for this sentimental gesture.
This is not the only suit worn by the blind hero during the show’s run. It first appeared in the last episode of the first season, replacing the black “Devil of Hell’s Kitchen” attire worn by Murdock till then. Murdock wore the red suit throughout the second season of Daredevil as well as in his appearances in The Defenders.
Meanwhile, the suit Murdock wore in his final battle with Fisk on the series was bought for a somewhat more modest price of 7,750 dollars to another showrunner of the series Erik Oleson.

]]>When it was announced last year that Daredevil was being cancelled, we were all shocked. The third season was a huge success and had an extremely positive reception from fans. No one was more surprised than Charlie Cox though.
Cox has described playing Daredevil as a “dream job” and has admitted that he is open to any scenario where he can reprise his role as the eponymous superhero. One possible scenario could be if Marvel decided to bring one of thee comic’s Spider-Man/Daredevil crossovers to life.
“In the comic books, there are some fantastic Spider-Man/Daredevil storylines,” Cox told The Playlist. “The bottom line is I just absolutely love the show. I love playing the character. It’s still a bit weird to me that I’m not playing the character anymore. It’s kind of impossible for me to really imagine that [a Spider-Man/Daredevil team-up] because it’s been such a long period of my life.”
He continued: “It’s such a dream job for me, it’s been such a wonderful experience, that any scenario where I get to continue playing the character, whether it be on a different series, or whether it be in the movies, would be fantastic. I can only hope. It’s almost like I can’t think about it because I don’t wanna get my hopes up.”
We are 100% rooting for you Charlie Cox. If you’re reading this MCU, bring Daredevil back!

]]>The pending launch of the streaming service Disney+ led to the cancellation of several Marvel shows on Netflix, and Daredevil was the latest to hit the chopping block. This news took everyone by surprise because this superhero series was a huge success story and was responsible for launching a whole series.
Charlie Cox was as shocked as the rest of us after hearing the news, because he felt like there’s a lot of stories left to tell.
“It’s weird to think there’s a chance I won’t be playing Matt Murdock ever again. That’s a bizarre feeling because that character has been such a huge part of my life for the last four and a half years,” said Cox.
Shortly after Daredevil was canceled, Marvel representatives said they’re looking forward to more adventures with the Man without Fear in the future. It’s possible the show will return on Disney+, but nothing is official just yet and Cox said it’s too early to discuss the possibility of his return to the series.

]]>Netflix spokesperson expressed the network’s gratitude to everyone involved, including their partners at Marvel, showrunner Erik Oleson and Charlie Cox who brought this iconic character to life.
“We are tremendously proud of the show’s last and final season and although it’s painful for the fans, we feel it best to close this chapter on a high note,” read the statement released by Netflix.
News of this cancellation come shortly after this streaming service announced they won’t be making any more seasons of Iron Fist and Luke Cage. The Punisher and Jessica Jones are the only Marvel shows remaining on Netflix, but we wouldn’t be surprised if they ended up being canceled, as well.
Disney is obviously working hard to take control of all Marvel properties before launching their new streaming service Disney+. They are looking forward to more adventures with the Man Without Fear in the future, but it’s unclear if Charlie Cox will be the one saving the day.

]]>Charlie Cox plays the titular character of Netflix original series Daredevil. The series is up there with the most popular superhero TV series made and is frequently praised by fans and critics alike.
Unfortunately, the same can’t be said of the 2003 Daredevil movie which starred Ben Affleck and only scored 44% on Rotten Tomatoes.
Speaking to The Daily Telegraph, Cox revealed what he believes the problem was with regards to the movie adaptation of the Daredevil comics.
“Going into the job, I had never read a Daredevil comic,” he said. “When I watched the film I had two feelings. One – I thought Ben Affleck did a great job. I really liked his Matt Murdock. It was in keeping with the characters in the comics.
“The problem with the film was that the best Daredevil runs in print are geared toward a slightly more mature audience. He’s not Spider-Man… not really a teenage superhero”
He added: “That’s where the film didn’t quite work – it was a little too, dare I say, comic book-y for that character.”
So if you’re looking for a more gritty and less “comic book-y” superhero story to indulge in, watch the TV series and not the movie. Seasons 1-3 of Daredevil are available to watch on Netflix now.

The Marvel show stars Charlie Cox as Matt Murdoch, a blind man turned superhero. In the teaser, we see Matt in a confession booth, questioning the justice system. He says:
“I once believed that justice could be found in a court of law, and in the light of day. But I was fooling myself, darkness only responds to darkness.”
He then broodingly admits: “The truth is… I’d rather die as the devil than live as Matt Murdock.”

]]>“Jessica is in a pretty dark headspace when we meet her at the top of season 2.” said Krysten Ritter, who plays the lead in the show. “What we’ve done again is kept the story very personal. If season 1 was in her head and in her mind, then this season will be more in her heart. It’s still a psychological thriller, but it’s more of an emotional thriller this time.”
Jessica Jones was in development since 2010, when the show’s creator Melissa Rosenberg pitched the idea to ABC. After ABC passed on the opportunity to make the show, Netflix opted in to make four series based on Marvel’s characters, including Jessica Jones. The show has since received significant praise from both the viewers and critics, with some going as far as claiming that it might be the “Marvel’s strongest TV franchise to date.”
One of the reasons for which we had to wait this long to get the second season of the show is Jessica Jones’ inclusion in The Defenders, mini-series featuring Marvel’s Daredevil, Iron Fist, and Luke Cage as well. The series featured 8 episodes and premiered on August 18, 2017.
