So there is no shortage of gods to whom the title may refer.

The opening weekend for the Suicide Squad sequel was the worst of any other DC film. The movie made $33.25 million while Warner Bros. hoped it would deliver $56-60 million. However, the movie earned a further $48 million overseas, bringing the total earnings to $81 million – just short of the reported budget of $84.5 million dollars.

The original Suicide Squad, despite having problems of its own, managed to earn 134 million dollars in its first week in 2016. This decline can be tallied to the new movie’s R rating as opposed to the former’s PG-13 rating, a fact that may prevented the younger audiences from seeing it. Another factor that comes into play is the Corona virus which probably affected the numbers in East Asia – a market that Warner Bros. counted on.

These results are deviating from the recent success of Warner Bros. with other DC movies. The last three of those – Shazam (2019), Aquaman (2018), and Justice League (2017) – were commercial successes.
