“This is a dream come true. The books are incredible, but with this cast and with Denis [Villeneuve], it doesn’t get any better than that,” said the Golden Globe-winning actress.
The identity of Taylor-Joy’s character remains a mystery, but Dune fans made a pretty good guess. Rumors are swirling around that she joined the franchise in the role of Paul Atreides’ sister Alia Atreides, the only major character missing from the call sheet.
Taylor-Joy will join the fellow newcomers to the Dune universe, Austin Butler, Florence Pugh, Christopher Walken, and Léa Seydoux, while Timothée Chalamet, Rebecca Ferguson, Josh Brolin, Stellan Skarsgård, Dave Bautista, Zendaya, Charlotte Rampling, and Javier Bardem will reprise their roles from the previous films.
Dune: Part Two will get its international release on February 28, before debuting in the US theatres on March 1.

“If I succeed in making a trilogy, that would be the dream. Dune Messiah was written in reaction to the fact that people perceived Paul Atreides as a hero. Which is not what he wanted to do. My adaptation is closer to his idea that it’s actually a warning,” said Villeneuve.
The highly-anticipated sequel to Dune: Part One will hit the theatres on March 15, 2024, after its release date has been shifted in the face of the ongoing strikes in Hollywood. Its star-studded ensemble cast will include Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya, Rebecca Ferguson, Josh Brolin, Dave Bautista, Charlotte Rampling, Stellan Skarsgard, Javier Bardem, Florence Pugh, Lea Seydoux, Christopher Walken, and Austin Butler.
Dune: Part Three isn’t the only potential project in this franchise. HBO Max has been plotting a spin-off series Dune: The Sisterhood, which centers on the Bene Gesserit, but its future is uncertain after the director Johan Renck announced his exit.

This announcement comes just a few days after Warner Bros. decided to delay the film’s release date by about a month. Dune: Part Two was originally given the pre-Thanksgiving date of October 20, 2023, before the studio decided to shift it to November 17, 2023, pitting it against Lionsgate’s prequel The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes, set to premiere on the same day.

In addition to becoming the first film with a predominately deaf leading cast to win the best picture, it also picked up awards for best supporting actor (Troy Kotsur) and best adapted screenplay (Sian Heder).
Despite missing out on the best picture award, Jane Campion still made history with The Power of the Dog, becoming the third woman to win the award for best director. It was also a big night for Dune, which topped the list of winners with a total of six awards, mostly in technical categories.
Acting awards were pretty easy to predict, and they all went to clear front-runners. Kotsur was joined by Will Smith, who picked up his first Oscar for King Richard, while Jessica Chastain (The Eyes of Tammy Faye) and Ariana DeBose (West Side Story) won awards for best leading and supporting actress, respectively.
The 94th Academy Awards took place on March 27 with Regina Hall, Amy Schumer, and Wanda Sykes hosting the ceremony.

]]>The acclaimed filmmaker will return as screenwriter and director of Dune: Part Two, set to be released on October 20, 2023, and he couldn’t be more excited to start work on this sequel.
“It was a dream of mine to adapt Frank Herbert’s Dune, and I have the fans, the cast, and crew, Legendary and Warner Bros. to thank for supporting this dream. This is only the beginning,” said Villeneuve in a statement.
Toby Emmerich, chairman of Warner Bros Picture Group, echoed his words and praised the Canadian director for crafting “a film that is both visually extraordinary and emotionally transporting, as evidenced by its global success both critically and at the box office.”
Dune had its world premiere at the Venice Film Festival in early September, before heading to American theaters on October 22. It serves as the adaptation to Frank Herbert’s seminal novel of the same name, and it grossed $223.2 million worldwide so far.

]]>Denis Villeneuve’s adaptation of Dune follows Paul Atreides (Timothée Chalamet), a young man who’s of royal birth who has visions of upcoming conflict over the planet Arrakis thrusts him into the middle of a war to protect the future of his family and people.
The final trailer has tons of action and battle scenes, spaceship sequences, and sandworms. It also hints at some deaths as well as the possibility of a sequel. Zendaya’s Chani says, “This is only the beginning,” as the trailer ends.
In August, Chamelet hinted at a second installment, saying Zendaya would have a “huge role”, as he revealed to Deadline. And back in September, Villeneuve revealed to Variety that he pitched a two-part adaptation to Frank Herbert’s novel. He also suggested the possibility of a third film.
Dune Part Two has yet to be confirmed and it’s reportedly dependant on the film’s performance at the box office.
The movie also stars Rebecca Ferguson, Oscar Isaac, Josh Brolin, Stellan Starsgård, Dave Bautista, Stephen McKinley Henderson, Zendaya, David Dastmalchian, Chang Chen, Sharon Duncan-Brewster, Charlotte Rampling, Jason Momoa, and Javier Bardem.
Dune will arrive in theaters and HBO Max on October 22. Watch the final trailer below.

After the end credits rolled, the highly-anticipated film was met with a standing ovation, that roared through Venice’s Sala Grande cinema for eight minutes straight. The jury member Chloé Zhao even rushed through the aisles to congratulate Villeneuve and called the movie fantastic.
Dune is also slated to premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival before heading to theaters on October 22nd. Its sequel is yet to get the green light, but Villeneuve already discussed it with Warner Bros. and Legendary.
“They feel that it would need a really bad outcome at the box office to not have a Dune: Part Two because they love the movie. They are proud of the movie, so they want the movie to move forward. And they still did half of it. So, you know, I’m very optimistic,” he told Total Film.

]]>The premiere of Dune was a star-studded affair, mostly because it stars some of Hollywood’s biggest A-listers, including Timothée Chalamet, Oscar Isaac, Rebecca Ferguson, Zendaya, Josh Brolin, Javier Bardem, and Dave Bautista, who walked the red carpet alongside Villeneuve.
