The Emmy-nominated actress recently took to social media to share a few photos from her time on the set of The Great. She said she’s forever proud of what the cast and the crew of this series accomplished together, despite the fact she won’t get to lace up her corset one last time.

“This show has meant the world to me. The experiences shared. The memories I’ll never forget. Tony McNamara is a certified genius. The last 3 seasons have shaped me. Through playing Catherine I discovered parts of myself I didn’t know I had,” wrote Fanning.

The Great chronicled Catherine the Great’s rise to power, but it took a satirical approach to the source material and explored the alternate historical genre. McNamara told Deadline the idea for The Great came to him by chance, “I didn’t know much about her except that maybe she banged a horse,” he said of the famous rumor circulated about Catherine. “And then I heard something about her keeping the Age of Enlightenment alive. So, I read up on her and she seemed to be an amazing character—really complicated and really modern in a lot of ways. That made me want to write about her, and I thought, well, how do I write about her in a way that would make me want to watch it?”

Multiple outlets report that Dakota Fanning and Elle Fanning have been cast to portray sisters in the film adaptation of Kristin Hannah’s best-selling 2015 novel The Nightingale.

The film is directed by Mélanie Laurent (Inglorious Basterds) from a script by Dana Stevens. 

“The Nightingale will be the first time we act on screen together. We have played the same character at different ages but have never spoken to each other in front of a camera. For years, we have looked for a film to do with one another and then this gem appeared,” the Fannings said in a joint statement. “As sisters, to share our artistry with each other while bringing such a powerful sister story to life is a dream come true. They bumped up the release date of this film by seven months, and announced it will premiere shortly before Halloween weekend – on October 18.

The Maleficent sequel could have a tough competition in animated movie The Addams Family, which is opening on the same day, but true fans of the genre will probably find time for both. It will also be going against the sophomore week of The Goldfinch and Zombieland: Double Tap.

Mistress of Evil picks up several years after the original movie, and further explores the complex relationship between Maleficent and soon to be Queen Aurora. It will star Angelina Jolie, Elle Fanning and Michelle Pfeiffer.
