]]>Kinds of Kindness is a triptych fable that chronicles the journey of three different characters. We’ll follow a story of a man trying to take control of his own life, a policeman whose wife seems to be a different person after being lost at sea and coming back home, and a woman who’s trying to find a special individual who’s destined to become a prodigious spiritual leader.
Kinds of Kindness will reunite Stone with her frequent collaborator Yorgos Lanthimos, following the success of their most recent collaboration Poor Things, which won Stone her second Oscar. This film also marks the reunion between Lanthimos and screenwriter Efthimis Filippou, who also co-wrote his films The Lobster and Killing of a Sacred Deer
This film will also star several of Lanthimos’ past collaborators, including Poor Things’ Willem Dafoe and Margaret Qualley and The Favourite’s Joe Alwyn. Hong Chau (The Whale), Mamoudou Athie (Archive 81), and Hunter Schafer (Euphoria) also star.
Kinds of Kindness will hit the theatres on June 21 via Searchlight Pictures.

]]>Phoenix previously collaborated with Aster on Beau Is Afraid, and they’re gearing up for another collaboration. The Oscar-winner will lead his next film Eddington, and he’ll be joined by the two-time Oscar winner Emma Stone (Poor Things), Oscar nominee Austin Butler (Dune: Part Two), and Emmy nominee Pedro Pascal (The Last of Us).
In addition to these four A-list stars, the supporting cast of this project will also include Luke Grimes (Yellowstone), Deirdre O’Connell (Outer Range), Micheal Ward (Top Boy), and Clifton Collins Jr. (Jockey).
Aster previously discussed Eddington in one of his Reddit AMAs and said he’s been plotting a Western-noir dark ensemble comedy for years. He described it as a “revisionist Western” that’s “one foot in the Western and one foot is even more heavily in the noir genre.”
Eddington will mark Aster’s fourth A24 film following horrors Hereditary and Midsommar and tragicomedy Beau Is Afraid. In addition to writing and directing it, he’ll also be credited as a producer with his Square Peg partner Lars Knudsen.

As for Billie Eilish, she’s fresh on the heels of the success of her Barbie song “What Was I Made For?”, which recently received Grammy nominations for the record and song of the year. To make the whole thing even better, she’ll take the SNL stage on December 16, alongside the SNL alum Kate McKinnon, who also starred in Barbie.
Before Rodrigo and Eilish grace the SNL stage later this month, the indie singer Noah Kahan will make his SNL debut on December 2 alongside Emma Stone, who recently starred in Poor Things and The Curse. He became an overnight sensation thanks to his hit song “Stick Season” and is currently in the running for the Grammy Award for best new artist.

]]>Stone will receive this award for her recent performance in Yorgos Lanthimos’ Poor Things, which was honored with the Golden Lion in Venice earlier this year. She plays a young woman trying to adjust to the world around her after being brought back to life by an eccentric scientist. The film also stars Mark Ruffalo and Willem Dafoe, and it will be released on December 8.
Palm Spring Festival chairman Nachhattar Singh Chandi announced Stone as the next recipient of this honorary award and said there’s no one better suited for this achievement.
“Emma Stone continues to exert influence as one of the most important actresses of this generation, whose performances are always exceptional no matter the role. In her latest film Poor Things, Emma delivers a burning intensity and character bound for liberation,” said Chandi in a statement.
The Palm Springs Film Festival will take place between January 4 and 15, and Martin Scorsese’s Killers of the Flower Moon has been chosen as the recipient of the Vanguard Award.

]]>Showtime’s official synopsis describes The Curse as a genre-bending series that explores how an alleged curse disturbs the relationship of a newly married couple as they try to conceive a child while co-starring in their new home-improvement show.
In addition to the Oscar-winner Stone and The Rehearsal’s Nathan Fielder, The Curse also stars Benny Safdie, Barkhad Abdi, Corbin Bernsen, and Constance Shulman. Fielder and Safdie co-created and co-directed the series, in addition to executive producing it alongside Stone, Josh Safdie, Dave McCary, and Ali Herting.
The Curse marks Stone’s first foray into the world of television since she starred in the psychological black comedy Maniac alongside Jonah Hill, created for Netflix by True Detective’s Cary Joji Fukunaga.
The Curse was made in collaboration between Showtime and A24, and its first three episodes will premiere at the New York Film Festival this October. The series features a total of 10 episodes, set to premiere on November 10.

]]>Poor Things centers on an innocent young woman Bella (Stone), who’s eager to learn about the world around her after being brought back to life by the eccentric scientist Dr. Godwin Baxter (Willem Dafoe). The film puts a feminist twist on Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein and its star-studded cast also includes Mark Ruffalo, Ramy Youssef, Christopher Abbott, Jerrod Carmichael, Margaret Qualley, and Kathryn Hunter.
Poor Things had to beat pretty tough competition in Venice to take the Golden Lion home, including Michael Mann’s Ferrari, David Fincher’s The Killer, and Sofia Copolla’s Priscilla. Lanthimos dedicated the award to Stone, and described her as the film’s driving force “in front and behind the camera.”
The list of major winners in Venice also included Silver Lion winner Evil Does Not Exist and Special Jury Prize winner Green Border. Memory’s Peter Sarsgaard and Priscilla’s breakout star Cailee Spaeny collected acting awards, while Matteo Garrone won Silver Lion for the best director for his work on Io Capitano.

She’s hungry to learn more about the outside world, so she ends up running away with a slick lawyer Duncan Wedderburn (Mark Ruffalo) and embarks on a whirlwind adventure across the continents.
Stone and Lanthimos already showed us they’re a match made in heaven while collaborating on The Favourite in 2018. Stone received critical acclaim and scored several award nominations for her performance, including a nod for the Academy Award for best actress in a supporting role.
In addition to Stone, Defoe, and Ruffalo, Poor Things will also star Ramy Youssef, Christopher Abbott, Jerrod Carmichael, Kathryn Hunter, and Margaret Qualley. It will have its world premiere at the Venice Film Festival in August before heading to theatres on September 8.

]]>La La Land starred Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone as a struggling jazz musician and an aspiring actress, pursuing their dreams in Los Angeles. It was a critical and financial success, earning $448 million on a budget of $30 million and winning six Oscars, including best director and best leading actress.
Marc Platt, who produce the original movie, will come back to produce its stage version, as well. He said he’s thrilled to reunite with Lionsgate and the incredible team behind La La Land to adapt the movie for the Broadway stage, the next exciting chapter in its evolution
“We’ve assembled a world-class team to create a musical that will delight La La Land’s millions of current fans and introduce the property to a whole new audience,” said Platt in a statement.
The Broadway adaptation will be helmed by the Tony-winning director Bartlett Sher and based on a book written by Ayad Akhtar and Matthew Decker. It will feature the original music by the Oscar winner Justin Hurwitz and lyrics by Benj Pasek and Justin Paul.

]]>News of the sequel came in early June, just weeks after the live-action prequel to the Disney animated classic 101 Dalmations was released in theaters. Director Craig Gillespie and screenwriter Tony McNamara were expected to return for the sequel, but a deal wasn’t made yet for Stone.
Stone starred in and executive produced the film, which was the third live-action adaptation of the story. She followed Glenn Close who played the Disney villain with Emma Thompson, Joel Fry, Paul Walter Hauser, Emily Beecham, Kirby Howell-Baptiste, and Mark Strong in supporting roles.
According to Variety, Cruella has earned more than $85 million domestically and $220 million in the global box office.
The agreement comes after Scarlett Johansson’s breach of contract suit against Disney over the company’s decision to release Black Widow simultaneously in theaters and on Disney Plus. Cruella and Black Widow were the first of Disney’s major releases to debut theatrically and on Disney Plus after the studio adopted the hybrid plan after the pandemic caused shifts in the 2021-2022 calendar.

]]>According to the official logline for this highly-anticipated project, Cruella “follows a young grifter named Estella, a clever and creative girl determined to make a name for herself with her designs” in 1970s London amidst the punk rock revolution.
This new take on Dodie Smith’s beloved novel The Hundred and One Dalmatians was first announced at D23 Expo in 2019, with Craig Gillespie serving as the director. In addition to Emma Stone, the cast also includes Emma Thompson, Joel Fry, Paul Walter Hauser, Emily Beecham, and Mark Strong.
Cruella is set to premiere on May 28th, as one of the first major movies from Disney’s slate to hit U.S. theaters this year. Marvel’s Black Widow and 20th Century Studios’ Free Guy are both expected to premiere the same month under the Disney moniker.
