]]>Fonda told her fans that she’s been diagnosed with non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma, but added she’s not giving up yet because “80% of people survive” this illness. She’ll be undergoing chemo for the next six months and she’s handling the treatments quite well.
“Cancer is a teacher and I’m paying attention to the lessons it holds for me. One thing it’s shown me already is the importance of community… The cancer, along with my age – almost 85 – definitely teaches the importance of adapting to new realities,” wrote Fonda on social media.
The Oscar-winning actress also reflected on her privileged position, acknowledging the fact that she has access to the best doctors and treatments that most other people in America don’t have. She also stressed the importance of eliminating harmful chemicals that can lead to cancer, such as fossil fuels, adding she won’t let her diagnosis interfere with her climate activism.
Fonda bid farewell to Netflix’s long-running series Grace and Frankie earlier this year and finished several projects before revealing her diagnosis. Her upcoming films Moving On, Book Club 2: The Next Chapter, and Eighty for Brady have all entered post-production.
