]]>Netflix has canceled The Break With Michelle Wolf and The Joel McHale Show with Joel McHale which means that both unscripted shows will not make it to season two.
Netflix has been struggling to deliver a show in a talk show format. These cancellations follow the decision to end Chelsea Handler’s weekly talk show last October after two seasons.
Wolf served as a contributor and writer on The Daily Show with Trevor Noah and Late Night with Seth Meyers. She was also nominated for an Emmy for her HBO special Nice Lady and has recently made headlines with her performance as host of the 2018 White House Correspondents Dinner.
McHale was the former longtime host of E’s The Soup. His show resembled The Soup in presentation and style and was launched in February with weekly installments. The network ordered six more episodes, which were released all at once in mid-July.
According to Deadline, the cancelations were the result of underwhelming viewership numbers.

McHale will also join Paul Feig, KP Anderson, Jessie Henderson, Brad Stevens, and Boyd Vico as an executive producer of the show. The Joel McHale Show with Joel McHale half-hour episodes will focus on pop culture and news from around the globe while featuring high-profile guests, comedy sketches, and, video clips from almost every part of the internet.
This show is another indicator that Netflix is seriously tapping into talk show area. The streaming service previously had Chelsea Handler hosted show Chelsea which had two seasons run as well as introducing My Next Guest Needs No Introduction, a talk show hosted by none other than David Letterman.
Joel McHale will fit perfectly into his new role, considering that he previously hosted E!’s show The Soup, which recapped best popular culture and television moments on weekly basis. He also provided sarcastic comments on various video clips. McHale is know for portraying Jeff Winger on NBC’s Community, while also making appearances in TV shows like CSI: Miami, Sons of Anarchy and The X-Files revival. His most recent acting effort was the lead role in now canceled show The Great Indoors. McHale had various movie roles as well, including Spy Kids: All the Time in the World and Ted.
