]]>The Mitch Ryan-directed visual sees the Grammy-winning singer attending a ballroom party with a pretty exclusive guest list. All the girls in attendance are exes of the same guy, who just happens to be the current love interest of Rodrigo’s, who attends the party wearing a black dress and a sash that reads “Miss Right Now”.
While the song’s lyrics perfectly capture the destructive power of jealousy, Rodrigo finds herself surrounded by a group of women in white gowns, wearing sashes that read “Miss Thought She Was the One” and “Miss Sill His Closest Friend”.
“Obsessed” was previously featured as a hidden track on some vinyl editions of Guts before being officially released as a single. It’s one of five new tracks featured on the album’s deluxe edition Guts (Spilled), alongside “Scared of My Guitar”, “Stranger”, “Girl I’ve Always Been”, and “So American”.
Rodrigo’s sophomore album Guts originally came out in September last year, and produced hit singles “Vampire”, “Bad Idea Right?”, and “Get Him Back”.

Rodrigo is now planning to release a series of live performances from Guts in collaboration with Vevo, but she’s yet to share the release date of this project. She did something similar when her debut album Sour came out and built even more hype for this record with the Sour Prom concert film.
Rodrigo is getting ready to take Guts on tour next year, and she recently told The Los Angeles Times that she’s still figuring out what her live performances will look like.
“[It] is really making me examine my identity as an artist, because I love going to a show that’s big and awesome, but I’m also not the type of girl who’s gonna break into a dance routine. That’s not me. So I’ve got to figure out a way to make it my own,” said Rodrigo.

She advises her to keep her head down because “They’re gonna tell you what you wanna hear / Then they’re gonna disappear / Gonna claim you like a souvenir / Just to sell you in a year.”
In a recent interview with The Los Angeles Times, she revealed this song was inspired by the former Disney star and “Drivers’ License” singer, Olivia Rodrigo.
“Olivia was getting big, and she was just, like, this little dainty child. felt so nervous. I was worried about her. She came up in that acting world, and people are so weird. I don’t know – I just felt very protective over her,” said Eilish.
The Grammy-winning artist explained that Rodrigo wasn’t the only reason why she wrote “Goldwing”, but added she was thinking about her at the time because she was the first young female artist to break into superstardom after her.

]]>The post Olivia Rodrigo Scores Her Second No. 1 Album With “Guts” appeared first on EverydayKoala.
]]>Guts soared to No. 1 with 302,000 equivalent album units earned in the United States, including 150,000 in pure album sales—powered by 94,000 in vinyl sales alone! SEA units comprise 151,000, equaling to 199.59 million on-demand official streams across the album’s 12 songs.
Guts is Rodrigo’s second album to debut at No. 1 following her first studio album Sour, and it even managed to surpass it by approximately 7,000 more units in its first week. Rodrigo is also the first female artist since Ariana Grande to debut at No. 1 with their two first chart entries.
To make the whole thing even more impressive, Guts also found a huge success in the UK. It debuted atop the Official U.K. Albums Chart with 60,300 chart units. It’s Rodrigo’s second album to hit No. 1 in this country and it managed to outsell the rest of the top ten combined during its debut week on the chart.

]]>The post Top 5 Songs From Olivia Rodrigo’s Sophmore Album “Guts” appeared first on EverydayKoala.
]]>Rodrigo did a great job picking “Vampire” as the lead single of her new album. Power ballads with an epic bridge and brutally honest lyrics have always been her forte, and she went back to her roots with this single.
Songs about reconnecting with toxic ex-boyfriends are one of the crucial building blocks of Guts, and “Get Him Back” offers a catchy and humorous take on this common dilemma.
Rodrigo always did a great job writing nostalgic songs that would fit right in on the Y2K movie soundtrack, and “Ballad of a Homeschooled Girl” is a case in point.
When she’s not singing about her toxic exes, Rodrigo spends most of Guts addressing the unattainable standards that women face in the modern world. “All-American B—h” is one of her best songs that tackle this subject matter.
The final track on the standard edition of Guts sees Rodrigo trying to handle the weight of crushing expectations she’s been facing since dropping her debut album Sour – while also proving she can rise above them.

]]>Originally released on June 30, “Vampire” immediately debuted atop the Billboard Hot 100 chart, but it took a while before it climbed to the top in the UK. Its steady climb to no. 1 was stopped by several songs from Barbie: The Album, but it finally managed to reach the top last week, becoming Rodrigo’s third song to do so, following “Drivers License” and “Good 4 U”.
“Vampire” also transformed Rodrigo into a female solo artist with most songs to top the chart in the UK during the 2020s, but she recently told The Guardian she was never too concerned about breaking records.
“It’s not attainable to try to beat yourself. It felt like lightning in a bottle. Anything public, charting, no. 1s, all the records – that’s just so beyond my control so there’s no point in worrying about it,” explained Rodrigo.
“Vampire” serves as the lead single from the singer’s highly-anticipated sophomore studio album Guts, set to hit the shelves on September 8.
