]]>Multiple outlets report that Paramount Pictures has removed Without Remorse from the 2021 theatrical release schedule.
Without Remorse, the big-screen adaptation of the Tom Clancy novel of the same name, was due to be released on February 26, 2021. It was originally scheduled to premiere on October 2, 2020, but was pushed back due to the pandemic. The slot is set to be filled with the untitled Billie Holiday biopic, directed by Lee Daniels.
But there’s more—it is also reported that the studio is negotiating a deal to sell Without Remorse to Amazon Studios.
According to the official synopsis, Without Remorse follows “John Kelly, a Navy SEAL who avenges his wife’s murder by brutal drug gangsters in Baltimore only to find himself inside a larger conspiracy.”
The film stars Brett Gelman, Jodie Turner-Smith, Jamie Bell, Jacob Scipio, Jack Kesy, Todd Lasance, Luke Mitchell, and Cam Gigandet.

]]>The studio announced that Brett Haley will direct the movie from a script written by Leah Mckendrick. Up until now. Haley has directed mainly small indie films like I’ll See You in My Dreams, The Hero, and Hearts Beat Loud. He also directed All the Bright Places and Sorta Like a Rock Star for Netflix.
His actors, like Blythe Danner, Sam Elliott, and Nick Offerman, are known for giving noteworthy performances so it will be interesting to see if he will manage to get good performances from the upcoming prequel. One of the original movie’s most endearing qualities was the chemistry between its two stars, John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John.
As its name suggests, Summer Lovin’ will focus on the events described in the song “Summer Nights” in which Danny and Sandy meet each other and have a steamy summer fling. It remains to be seen whether the magic can be reworked.

]]>Paramount Pictures is working on a new film in the franchise based on Hasbro’s action figure toy line. The announcement of a fourth installment comes a few months before the third movie in the franchise, Snake Eyes: G.I. Joe Origins is set to premiere.
The studio is in negotiations to tap the talents of writing duo Joe Shrapnel and Anna Waterhouse to pen the script. Transformers franchise producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura is returning to produce. Snake Eyes and Crazy Rich Asians star Henry Golding will take the lead role. The film directed by Robert Schwentke is slated to open October 23.
The film franchise was launched in 2009. The first two films, G.I. Joe: Retaliation and G.I. Joe: The Rise of the Cobra grossed a combined $678 million at the worldwide box office.

]]>Multiple outlets report that Paramount’s video game feature will be available for early digital release just 46 days after its debut in theaters.
The news was confirmed by the studio Friday.
The early digital release follows the nation-wide decision to close movie theaters. Paramount joins Disney, Lionsgate, Sony, Universal, STX Films and Warner Bros. who have all announced plans to release films early, including Onward, I Still Believe, The Way Back, Bloodshot, Birds of Prey, The Hunt, and The Invisible Man.
The film based on the Sega video game character has grossed $306.7 million worldwide during its five weeks run.

]]>Multiple outlets report that Ryan Reynolds and John Krasinski have teamed up for the movie Imaginary Friends. The duo is in talks to board the comedy. Paramount just recently won the bidding war from the feature, beating out Lionsgate and Sony among others.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the film follows a man who can see and talk to people’s imaginary friends. But things get dark and complicated when some of those imaginary friends, turn to the dark side.
Krasinski is currently in post-production on A Quiet Place: Part II, which opens March 20. Reynolds is just coming off a major deal with Apple to star alongside Will Ferrell in a live-action adaptation of the classic tale A Christmas Carol.

]]>The official first look finally arrived Tuesday and fans were delighted to see that the classic hallmarks of Sonic are present, including his transformation into a blue ball.
According to Deadline, the film follows the “(mis)adventures of Sonic as he navigates the complexities of life on Earth with his newfound — human — best friend Tom Wachowski (Marsden). Sonic and Tom join forces to try and stop the villainous Dr. Robotnik (Carrey) from capturing Sonic and using his immense powers for world domination.
The big-screen adaptation of the hit Sega video game is a live-action — animated hybrid. It stars Jim Carrey as nemesis Dr. Robotnik, along with James Marsden, Tika Sumpter Natasha Rothwell, Neal McDonough, Adam Pally and Ben Schwartz as the voice of Sonic himself.
Sonic The Hedgehog hits theaters on November 15. Check out the trailer below.
