The music video for “Desire” isn’t extremely plot-driven, and it mostly shows Smith speeding through an empty parking lot, preparing for their next high-speed race. The video shows the singer singing along to the track’s lyrics from behind the wheel.

“​​You are my desire/And just the thought of you is keeping me awake/You take me higher/Take me away,” Smith sings in the catchy chorus, which they co-wrote alongside Harris, Sam Roman, and Matthew Burns, who also co-produced the song.

“Desire” was originally released on July 28, and it’s steadily climbing up the UK Official Singles chart, peaking at No. 12. Harris topped the chart earlier this year with “Miracle” ft. Ellie Goulding, while Smith scored their last No. 1 single with “Unholy” ft. Kim Petras.

“Desire” marks the third collaboration between Smith and Harris. They topped the charts in the UK with “Promises” back in 2018 and later collaborated on “I’m Not Here to Make Friends” from Smith’s latest album Gloria.

Smith confirmed their casting by sharing a photo from their trailer, and captioned it by writing, “Up to something unholy on set.” Details regarding Smith’s character are being kept under wraps, and it’s unclear if they’ll perform on the show as themselves or play an original character.

Smith has been pretty busy following the success of their Kim Petras collaboration “Unholy”, which won them a Grammy for the best pop duo/group performance. Smith and Petras recently stirred a lot of commotion with their live performances at the Grammys and the Brits, which came shortly after the release of Smith’s fourth studio album Gloria.

Smith will be in pretty good company on the set of And Just Like That… which is currently filming in New York. In addition to Carrie (Sarah Jessica Parker), Miranda (Cynthia Nixon), and Charlotte (Kristen Davis), Season 2 will also mark the return of John Corbett‘s Aidan Shaw, and behind-the-scene photos hint that he’ll rekindle his relationship with Carrie.

In March, Smith announced that their third album, To Die For, would be pushed back from its release date of May 1 and a new date has yet to be announced, but they said it would be released later this year. Smith released a collab with Demi Lovato in May titled “I’m Ready.”

Smith’s third studio album, titled To Die For was supposed to come out on May 1st, but the singer decided to change plans because its title and imminent release didn’t feel right.

“I have done a lot of thinking the last few weeks and feel that the title of the album and imminent release doesn’t feel right so I have come to the decision to continue working on the album and make some important changes and additions,” the Grammy-winning artist wrote in a statement.

Smith also promised that they intend to release a new album this year, and surprise us with some new music in the meantime. Some of the songs from this record we’ve already got to hear include “How Do You Sleep?”, “I Feel Love”, “To Die For” and the Normani collaboration “Dancing with a Stranger”.

The “Dancing with a Stranger” singer has had crowds of thousands dancing during his tour of South Africa which began on the 13th of April.

The leg marked part of his The Thrill Of It All tour which has taken him across Europe, North America, Asia, Oceania, and finally Africa.

The 26-year-old told the audience during his first show in Johannesburg that he had wanted to visit the country for many years and was so happy to finally be performing there.

Smith performed two shows without a hitch in Johannesburg but was forced to cut short his first concert in Cape Town after only 45 minutes. After abruptly leaving the stage, a voice notified the audience that the Grammy winner would unfortunately not be able to continue due to his voice being strained.

The singer was previously forced to cancel concert dates in 2015 due to a hemorrhage on his vocal cords. He had to undergo surgery and was not allowed to speak or sing for at least three weeks.

After consultation with medical practitioners, tour organizer, Big Concerts, confirmed that Smith’s remaining two shows in Cape Town would be canceled.

North America part of Thrill of It All tour will start with a live show in Toronto on June 18^th, and then visit all major U.S. cities before wrapping up in Mexico City on July 27^th.

Smith recently spoke about the new songs and stated that he feels they show his growth and confidence.
