The Latin Grammy Awards returned to Spain this Thursday night, and the ceremony was truly one for the books. It was a great night for the female artists who led the way in most major categories, with Karol G and Shakira walking away with three awards each.

Karl G knocked it out of the park with her album Mañana Será Bonito, and the Latin Grammy Awards voters recognized her brilliance. She collected the trophy for album of the year and best urban music album, in addition to picking up the trophy for best urban fusion/performance for “TQG” alongside Shakira.

Shakira made history as the first act to score three nods for song of the year at once, and she managed to come out victorious in this category with “Shakira: Bzrp Music Sessions, Vol. 53”. This song also won her the best pop song trophy, and she celebrated the best urban fusion/performance win for “TQG” alongside Karol G.

The Mexican singer Natalia Lafourcade was one of the biggest underdogs to shine brightly at this year’s Latin Grammy Awards. She managed to beat the likes of Shakira, Karol G, and Rosalia to win record of the year with “De Todas las Flores”, bringing her total to three awards.

The Latin Grammy Awards were held at the FIBES Conference and Exhibition Centre in Seville, Spain on November 16.

The MTV Video Music Awards are just around the corner, and Shakira will be one of the show’s shiniest stars. The Colombian singer will walk away with one of the ceremonies’ most prestigious accolades – the honorary Video Vanguard Award.

Bruce Gillmer, Paramount’s president of music, music talent, programming, and events, announced Shakira as the latest recipient of this prestigious award. He called her “a trailblazer for women around the world” and added that “her massive impact across the musical landscape will be long-lasting as she continues to create and entertain at the highest level.”

Shakira will make history as the first South American artist to win the Video Vanguard Award. This award is meant to honor trailblazing performers who had a profound impact on the modern music industry, and the list of its most recent recipients includes Nicki Minaj, Missy Elliott, and Jennifer Lopez.

Now’s a better time than ever for Shakira to collect this award, since she’s been on top of her game in 2023. After kicking things off with the viral hit “Shakira: Bzrp Music Sessions, Vol. 53”, she gave us amazing songs “Acróstico”, “Copa Vacía” ft. Manuel Turizo, and Karol G’s “TQG”. She’ll perform the medley of her biggest hits when MTV Video Music Awards return to the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey on September 12.

Shakira has countless awards in her impressive collection and she’s getting ready to add another one to the mix. She’ll be honored with Billboard’s very first Latin Woman of the Year award at the upcoming Latin Women in Music Gala.

The Latin Women in Music Gala will celebrate Latin female artists, executives, and creatives whose work had a positive impact on inclusion and gender parity in the music industry. The list of award recipients at the inaugural event will also include Ana Gabriel, Emilia, Evaluna, Goyo, and Thalia.

Leila Cobo, Billboard’s chief content officer for Latin/Español, described Shakira as “the ultimate woman in music” who forged the path for many artists after her.

“Thanks to her, Latin women all over the world have been empowered to write and perform deeply personal music. She created a movement all on her own, and continues to be more relevant than ever today, with grace, a deep tradition of giving back, and enormous talent,” said Cobo.

2023 is turning out to be another landmark year for Shakira, who set several major records with her smash hit “Shakira: Bzrp Music Sessions, Vol. 53”. This viral bop broke 14 Guinness World Records and became the most-streamed Latin track in 24 hours on both YouTube and Spotify.

Shakira is no stranger to breaking records, and she set a few more with her viral banger “Bzrp Music Sessions, Vol. 53”. The Colombian singer set 14 new Guinness World Records with this hit song and celebrated this achievement with a live performance on Jimmy Fallon’s show.

The Guinness World Records announced that “Bzrp Music Sessions, Vol. 53” helped Shakira set 14 new records, from being the most streamed Latin track on Spotify in 24 hours and in one week to being the most viewed Latin track on YouTube in 24 hours and the fastest Latin track to reach 100 million views.

Shakira found a way to celebrate her latest achievement – by delivering the first live performance of her latest hit. She appeared alongside the Argentinian DJ and producer Bizarrap on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, revealed her kids convinced her to work with him and shared a personal story behind the song’s lyrics.

“I’ve had a very rough year after my separation, and writing this song has been so important to me. It’s been a healthy way to channel my emotions,” said the singer.

Shakira made an epic comeback with “Shakira: Bzrp Music Sessions, Vol. 53” and she set several records following its release. The Colombian singer celebrated her success with an emotional post on social media and dedicated her song to millions of women brave enough to stand up for themselves.

“Shakira: Bzrp Music Sessions, Vol. 53” was released on January 11 and it didn’t take it long to start breaking records. 24 hours after its release, the song already had 50 million views, setting the record for the biggest debut for any Latin song in YouTube history. It took it 72 hours to reach 100 million views, becoming the fastest Latin video to do so.

“Shakira: Bzrp Music Sessions, Vol. 53” also topped the Spotify Daily Global 200 chart after its release, and scored the highest debut for a Spanish song in the platform’s history with 14.3 million views in 24 hours.

Shakira reflected on the song’s success on social media and dedicated it to millions of women who stand up to those who make them feel insignificant.

“This achievement is not mine but everyone else’s. We gotta get up 70 times 7. Not as society tells us, but in the way we know best, which serves us to get ahead for our children, our parents and for those who need us and hope in us,” wrote Shakira on Instagram.

Shakira is no stranger to amazing collaborations, and her latest sees her team up with the Black Eyed Peas and David Guetta. They joined forces in the futuristic music video for the catchy new track “Don’t You Worry”, which will take you straight to outer space.

Helmed by Director X, “Don’t You Worry” features all the elements you’d expect to see in a space-themed music video – from members of the Black Eyed Peas spotting a UFO to Shakira performing an elaborate dance number with a group of aliens. The final moments of the video take us back behind the scenes in Barcelona and Los Angeles, where the video was filmed.

If you feel like this song sounds a little bit familiar, it’s not a coincidence. It pays a clear homage to the Black Eyed Peas’ chart-topping hit “I Gotta Feeling” from 2009, which was also produced by David Guetta.

“Don’t You Worry” also marks the group’s second collaboration with Shakira. They previously joined forces for 2020 single “Girl Like Me, which peaked at No. 67 on the Billboard Hot 100.

“Don’t You Worry” marks the first single of 2022 for the Black Eyed Peas. It’s expected to be featured on the group’s upcoming ninth studio album, which will serve as the follow-up to their previous record Translation from 2020.

It’s the end of the game for Shakira and Gerard Piqué.

The couple, who have two children together, have confirmed that they are ending their 12-year relationship.

The pair met in 2010, just prior to the FIFA World Cup in South Africa. The “Waka Waka” singer performed the anthem for the global event, and the footballer starred in the music video, along with other players.

Piqué apparently told the Colombian artist, “I am going to win this World Cup so that we can see each other at the finals.” He kept his word as Spain took the trophy.

Shakira and Piqué (who happen to share a birthday 10 years apart) went public with their relationship the following year, and welcomed their son, Milan, in 2013. Two years later, Shakira gave birth to the couple’s second son, Sasha.

It seems all good things come to an end, however, as the former lovebirds confirmed their split in a joint statement over the weekend.

“We regret to confirm that we are parting ways. For the well-being of our children, who are our highest priority, we ask that you respect their privacy. Thank you for your understanding.”

We can always count on Shakira to turn up the heat with each new song she shares with the world, and she certainly did it with her latest single “Don’t Wait Up”. This song is the very definition of summertime fun, and its music video perfectly captures its playful spirit.

The video for this song was filmed in Tenerife in Spain’s Canary Islands. It opens with Shakira catching some waves on a neon-lit surfboard before showing off her epic moves on the dance floor. Long story short, this music video is all about summertime vibes, and that was exactly the singer’s idea behind this song.

“I’m excited to share my new song ‘Don’t Wait Up’ with everyone – the day we came up with this in the studio, I knew it would be perfect for summer and those nights where you just want to not think about tomorrow!” Shakira said in a statement.

“Don’t Wait Up” will serve as the lead single on her upcoming 12th studio album. It’s her first English-language single since 2016’s “Try Everything” and the first solo song she released since her last album El Dorado came out in 2017.

Shakira’s recent Super Bowl performance reminded us why we love her so much, and she’s finally ready to rock our world with some new tracks. The music video for her new single “Me Gusta” is here, and it sees her joining forces with the rising reggaeton star Anuel AA.

The colorful video for their first collaboration was directed by Drew Kirsch, and it opens with the two stars sitting on a high-speed train. It sees Shakira rocking several outfits inspired by Japanese culture, including a pink dress by Kuwaiti designer Yousef Al-Jasmi.

Shakira and Anuel AA originally dropped this song on January 13th, and it already found impressive success on Billboard’s Hot Latin Songs chart. It reached no. 6 on this chart, and debuted in the top 10 in multiple Latin American countries.

“Me Gusta” is Shakira’s first lead single in two years, and its release hints that she probably has a new album on the way. Her latest LP, El Dorado, came out in 2017, and it was followed by a tour across the world.
