He ends up inadvertently altering the future and finds himself trapped in a reality where General Zod (Michael Shannon) returned to power.

Stephen Amell played Oliver Queen for eight seasons of Arrow and reprised the role on several spin-off shows. In addition to appearing on multiple episodes of The Flash, he also made guest appearances on DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, Supergirl, and Batwoman.

Executive producer Eric Wallace said that they wanted Amell to come back and reprise his iconic role as Oliver Queen as soon as the final season was announced. He promised epic-yet-emotional episodes that Arrowverse fans will enjoy.

“It was Oliver who originally launched Barry Allen (played by Grant Gustin) on his heroic path. That’s why everyone on Team Flash felt so strongly that it was important to create a full-circle moment with Oliver’s return in the final season of The Flash,” said Wallace.

The final season of The Flash will premiere on the CW on February 8 and it will feature a total of 13 episodes.

The CW has been setting the stage for the final season of the beloved series for quite some time. The titular star Grant Gustin signed a one-year deal back in January, hinting that he won’t be playing Barry Allen for too much longer, and he’s now set to return for another 13 episodes.

Following the show’s cancelation, The Flash executive producer/showrunner Eric Wallace tried to look on the bright side and focus on the amazing journey of creating this show for almost a decade.

“Nine seasons! Nine years of saving Central City while taking audiences on an emotional journey full of heart, humor, and spectacle. And now Barry Allen has reached the starting gate for his last race,” said Wallace in an official statement.

The CW is the latest in the long line of beloved shows canceled by The CW, in the face of the network’s financial struggles and ownership changes. Superman & Lois and possibly Gotham Knights remain the only DC shows on this network following the cancelation of The Flash.

Barry’s timeline-hopping allows him to shift from his cinematic universe where Batman is played by Ben Affleck who appeared with Miller in 2016’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and into an alternative universe where Batman is played by Michael Keaton, who played the original Batman in 1989’s Batman and 1992’s Batman Returns.

Kiersey Clemons is playing Barry’s love interest Iris West, a character she originated for 2017’s Justice League but was cut after Zack Snyder left the film and was then brought back after Snyder released his four-hour cut of Justice League. Billy Crudup, who played Barry’s father Henry in the 2017 and 2021 versions of Justice League, has been replaced by Ron Livingston for the film.

In the clip, Keaton’s Bruce Wayne asks Barry why he would want to save his own, with his ability to move through timelines. Wayne’s speech is shown with footage of Barry returning home where his mother (Maribel Verdú) is still alive, but in his universe, she was killed and his father was wrongfully convicted.

According to Deadline, he was set to end his run as a series regular on The Flash after season six, but COVID-19-related production issues made him keep this status until episode “Mother” in season seven. He made his later appearances as a guest star.

Valdes portrayed mechanical engineering genius Cisco Ramon/Vibe, who is responsible for the majority of the equipment Barry Allen/ The Flash uses. He also served in the role of Ramon’s Earth-2 doppelganger Reverb and character’s Earth-19 doppelganger Echo. Valdes will keep his status as a series regular through season seven and is expected to make an appearance in the finale.

The exit of Cavanagh and Valdes from The Flash isn’t definite according to Wallace, who left the door open for the actors to make guest appearances down the road.

“Both are incredible talents who created beloved characters that fans and audiences around the world have come to love,” said Wallace. “Which is why we are happily keeping the door open for return appearances.”

The CW previously renewed The Flash for season 8 in February, with the show’s star Grant Gustin already penning the contract to return for new episodes. Candice Patton (Iris West-Allen) and Danielle Panabaker (Caitlin Snow / Killer Frost / Frost) are in the process of negotiating their new deals with the network.

The COVID-19 pandemic has affected all the shows, with The Flash, Batwoman, and Supergirl forced to end their season early. Now the network finally releases the official release dates for four of the shows. The second season of Batwoman is set to begin on Sunday, January 17th. The fourth season of Black Lightning is set for Monday, February 8th. The seventh season of The Flash and the debut of the new Superman & Lois series are set for Tuesday, February 23rd.

The two remaining shows, Supergirl and Legends of Tomorrow, will arrive later on and they still don’t have an official release date. Legends of Tomorrow typically premieres later than the other shows. The sixth season of Supergirl, which is set to be the last, is held back due to the lead actress Melissa Benoist’s pregnancy.

The studio has now delayed four DC movies: The Batman. The Flash, Black Adam, and Shazam 2. Wonder Woman: 1984 is still set for a December release date, though.

The Batman was originally set for an October 1st, 2021 release, and the new date for is set for March 4th, 2022, while Dune gets the original spot. The Flash, which was supposed to be released on June 3rd, 2022, is moved to November 4th, 2022. This was the original date for Shazam 2, which is now moved to June 2, 2023. Black Adam which was set for a December 22th, 2022 release is now completely off the studio’s release schedule. June 3rd and August 5th of 2022 are still open for yet-to-be-announced DC movies.
